Posiview's Photo 52 'Nature' added **FINISHED!!**

I've decided to post my 2 other attempts a bright, more for posterity than for C&C...:(

#1, I was trying to get the bright, night street lights. I was also trying to get the detail in the glass and silhouettes from the fish/sea horses.... which kept moving slightly, hence the blur. Looking at it again after a few days and I'm not too unhappy with it, or is it me trying to pull the wool over my own eyes...:cuckoo:

#2, This was a Bright (idea)? take. I was trying to say 'Is it bright to put metallic objects into an electric toaster?!" but is just looks like I'm trying to take hot toast out of the toaster :shake: Perhaps I should have used a couple of knives and really got them inside the toaster??

Bright 4 by andysheader, on Flickr

I still have an idea but it's one that involves my shooting at night in a iffy part of Leeds....Let's see.

I'm off to see if week 25 is out....

Cheers.

We've got that toaster!

#1 - Fish/ seahorses? You've lost me there. I see them, but why are they in the street, is Leeds taking on the Blackpool illuminations? The image itself isn't doing anything for me I'm afraid. It suits the theme, but the silhouettes I think ruin the shot. The backlit textured glass and no silhouette would have been better.

#2 Apart from you have a real good toaster, again the shot does nothing for me. I get the idea, but as you say it just looks like you're taking hot toast out of a toaster. Perhaps taking a shot of the bright element when the toaster is on would work better?

I'm filing week 24 in my 'Fail' folder.

It was fun trying different ideas, even if they didn't come to fruition!

Anyway...onwards and upwards...:D

I am assuming this is the result of some digital wizardry... Otherwise its not scarry its mentally unsafe...

Great pic! Well done!

Hiya Andy,

Wow that is a brave shot .... either that or your family have been playing some Father's Day tricks on you

Now please, you have to reveal how the hell you got from setting the camera up, with good focus and still manage to get up there in time? Please don't tell me you set everything up, did a quick gymnastics stint, with remote release in one hand and then fire the shutter :D (or is that close?)

This is a fun photo and I like your thought process. Now ..... where are the family members to rescue you? ... I bet they are all celebrating Father's Day ... without the dad

I can just hear you yelling for :help:

Have to say I prefer the colour version although it needs a slight rotation to align the verticals and horizontals. But great job on exposure ... especially capturing the blue/fluffy cloudy sky.

If we don't hear from you again .... I'll take it you are still dangling from the roof line

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

P.S. I think this should come with a warning 'do not attempt this at home'

Great fun pic!
:clap::clap:

I'm thinking I know exactly how this was done, and if so, well executed!

My only gripe is the offset verticals, like the camera was not horizontal.
:nono:

But that aside, a fun filled shot. Maybe the "missing" ladder should be laying on the floor.

Best regards

Adie

I know exactly how you did this.
You climbed out of the open bedroom window and shimmied along the gutter :D

A great idea and good comeback from your last week.

As you saved so much time getting the shot in camera  you could have spent some time on a little PP to sort out the converging verticals, but I guess your hands hurt after holding on to that gutter for so long.

I would not know where to start on the PP for this type of shot... Well done it creates such a fun image! I am guessing you where on a ladder?!?!

My daughter was, once again, my able assistant.

I've had a quick edit and straighten.

Cheers.

Cheers, the annoying thing is, my tripod has two spirit levels and my camera has a virtual horizon thingy...

Ladder added.

Tried to sort the converging verticals out - the table is actually on a slight slope and if I touch it the father-in-law with have me!

Cheers, I was actually stood on the ground and used Topaz Remask 2 (highly recommended for this type of photograph) to mask me out and moved to another photography just of the house.

I really enjoyed this one and it was a bit of fun. Though it did help my PP skills a tad.

Right, I'm trying to get my stuff ready to get out and do my 'proper' rescue photograph but the force of the TV is strong....:'(

Cheers all.

Oooff, made it back. Night photography on your own is a bit :cuckoo: :gag: :shake: :'(:bonk: :exit::$ :suspect: :runaway:

Anyway, I'm tempted to edit and post now but I think I'll wait until tomorrow as I need some kip...

Cheers.

It's quite bizarre how I really flunked my bright theme but ideas for rescue are flooding in...

We've been sponsoring dogs through The Dogs Trust for years now and when I saw Rescue I knew I had to get a photograph.

I've driven past the Leeds branch loads of times and decided on a night shoot. I had quite a few ideas regarding what I wanted and took quite a few photographs.

Here's one I quite liked. I really wanted to get a bus or a lorry tail lights but kept missing them. The light on the sign is from the car. Pity the top left is a tad dark. I caught the tail end of a beautiful sky.

Anyway, here's my second attempt at Rescue.

Cheers.

Long exposure - nice attempt :) liking the clouds...

Hanging man#2 - don't ever do that with the ladder... looks wrong and a hasty addition. If anything, can you reshoot the house with a real ladder (borrow one?) and place it as though it had fallen? Would improve it loads. Now I know its pasted in, but surelyeven hanging you'd have a little shadow on you and possibly be looking up? or may be down?

Its a nice masking job tho congrats on post processing!

bright glass thingy.... um... sorry but does nothing for me.
The toaster is ever so slightly cropped... but neat idea... Here's another. Wall socket and a screwdriver (caption - not a bright idea) (I'd turn the fuses off before messing tho).

Puts any of my ideas to shame... of which I haven't had any so...

A lovely shot and a great idea

Maybe a tiny bit underexposed?

It is. I had a quick edit and bumping the exposure really adds. Cheers.

As you say, its a shame the top left corner is a little dark on the sign, other than that I like it.

Thanks. I might try another go at PPing it.

Yeah, I'm a tad annoyed at rushing the ladder and I never thought about the shadow...

The crop was tight but there was room - appears after adding the border it effected the crop.

I had a triptic in mind for the toaster idea: a toaster + two knives getting the toast out, me putting a can of beans in the microwave and stabbing a knife into a can to open it. But time beat me...:(

Thanks all for your comments.

HI Andy

sorry for taking sooo long to catch up on your thread

Rescue....how the flip do ya do that  Fantastic idea & really well done ,like the ladder on the floor & the detail in the clouds .Converging verticals??? However you did this shot I'm impressed beyond belief & convince that maybe you did have too much costa at some point

Beautiful 2nd post for Rescue...great sky line, light trail & color on the poster ,already been sai about the slight darkness to the left top of poster but an image that stands out none the less...great work

Hiya Andy,

I remember seeing 2nd photo for rescue and just realised now I didn't leave comments (sorry).

Great sunset in the the background, would have been better with a bit more light in the top right corner of the sign, but otherwise a great shot for the theme.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

I saw that advert recently and instantly laughed out loud; it's sssoooo well scripted and very funny!

have you not seen the others...YEAH..others... look for them on youtube... seriously well scripted..even the chap who stars in them says how good they are.. LOL!!

Hiya Andy

Is it your sunburnt butt :gag: (after all this heat we have had) ... I hope not and am thinking more towards a really close up of an ice-cream/ice-lolly (sorry to put this in the same sentence as Andy's butt)

But like Neil ... I don't get it either ... unless I have ... in which case I will not be eating ice-cream/ice-lollies ever again

Cheers

Dawn

Epic fail here, me thinks :shake:

So, I thought the female Derrière (sp) is rather sensual. Thought better about asking Jackie so had a go with 2 spoons.

Not impressed, really. But I have a try at something different:I didn't have the right lens so had to crop and zoom in in PP, colours are naff, sky (addded) is haff.....yadda, yadda, yadda.

The origional image is here http://www.flickr.com/photos/leedssamuraimartialartsseminar2008/5878766218/in/photostream/.

I'm away until Sunday so no chance of a reshoot.....

Cheers and good luck with your week 26....
