Monthly Posiview's 2013 ETC thread - December Dome (ish) added and project FINISHED...maybe :)

Although I have nothing against selective colour, I am really trying not to post a photograph of a street with just red in. Mainly because I've done it before.

I thought of another spin that I'm sure has been done before, but not by me :D

Taken at Brimham Rocks today. This is just an example, I'm after a better photograph...why can't I find any nice colourful graffiti when I need it

I really like the selective colour, totally different idea, nice scene.

Not so keen on the black and white though, I don't know why but it doesn't do anything for me

Hi, Mark, no problems at all about the b&w, I wasn't a fan until recently and imagine if we all liked same things :bonk:

I'm hoping for a much stronger image for the SC.

Cheers.

I like your selective colour shot, its definitely different to the usual cliches

For some reason Andy, they're not showing here or on Flickr?

I'll comment when they're back up, even though I do remember most of what you posted!!!!

Hi, Mark, I've just clicked on the last photographs and all took me to the photograph in Flickr

Hi Andy, they're back! Must have been a glitch with Flickr, or my browser, or my specs!

B&W is stunning; I seriously can't fault it!

Selective colour, I like your approach, but yes, as you say it needs a better subject. Something going from old to modern would be the obvious choice.

Leading lines, great photo, with good processing on both versions, but I'm not really getting leading lines from it. I'm guessing you meant the shadows of the branches, but I don't think they quite do the "leading" job they should. It only matters for the technique, because the shot works perfectly without; it's just not a leading lines shot IMHO.

Yeah, SC has plenty of potential....providing one doesn't do the obvious.

Leading lines...you're spot on and I thought the same. If I'd got there earlier I feel the shadows would have been longer and produced better lines.

Still plenty of time for reshoots :D

Cheers.

Hi Andy,

B&W; like the very simplicity of the image and also the water-colour type effect of your pp.

Selective Colour; I must admit that I have not come across this approach to the theme before. Just wondering a diagonal transition would works better or not?

Leading Lines; Not too sure  about that one  apart from the leaning tree on the left?

Hi, Stan, on the SC, I usually keep a layered PS file so I can edit but didn't for the SC. Nice idea, though.

Yeah, the leading lines didn't come out as I expected.

B&W works for me as well.

Cheers

Hmm, not sure. The lines are definitely leading my eye, but not to the lighthouse. because the white cliff face curves to the left before it gets there. I'm also not keen on the processing I'm afraid, because it looks a bit too two dimensional somehow?

Sorry Andy, but not one of your better ones IMHO, especially given your usual exceptional standards. I know you can take it though :)

Much better IMHO.

Cheers, it is better than the first :D

No worries, it was very much a grab shot :nono:

At least you didn't notice the 'shopped sky :D

Cheers.

Hi, all, I have to say Y'all are really producing the goods, with, and no offence to others Mark in the lead.

I'm a bit meh at the moment and I've considered dropping out, but if I do I know I'll regret it. I have loads of ideas but stuff seems to get in the way.

I took quite a few photographs over the weekend while away with the family at the coast. A few we're taken with the themes in mind but I've not really had time to look at them. I'm still in it though, having posted the requisite 3 photographs :)

Anyways....wonder what June will bring? I guess street photography will make an appearance shortly ....gulp...,

Cheers.

Thanks for the encouraging comment Andy, but I think this should be judged on the rate of improvement, not anything else. I'd dispute that I've improved enough, though I am learning stuff :)

You're half way through now (nearly), so have to keep going; it's the law :)

EDIT: Just realised there are two Marks doing this of course. It was very arrogant of me to assume you meant me, but I didn't mean to be; I just saw my name and thought it was for me :(

BTW, Kelly said she doesn't like street photography, so I'm guessing it may not come up. It'd really push me too if it did!

All respect to the other Mark, but it was you

I hope it does

Andy, I though you done exceptionally well keeping up a 52 and 12 in one year. What ever you do please don't give up as there aren't enough of us already.

Cheers, it was a dip, I'm back at 100%

Hi Andy, didn't want to comment, or even look to closely, until I'd got mine done, but I'm liking this a lot :)

Number one is my favourite, as I love the processing you've applied.

If anything, I'm not so sure I like the literal storyboard approach, because I think your shots tell your story without, but you have done it very effectively.

Bang on theme, Andy. A simple story and very apt for this month's challange. Style wise I like 1 the best. The dandelion clock details on white background are lost in 2.

Well done and have the rest of the month relaxing!

Thanks. I prefer #1 myself.

The third set is the best imho.

It's a strange story but it works very well.

#3, I have to say was happenstance, I pressed the wrong blend button in Photoshop :D

Yeah, I did wonder abut the text, but it felt a little empty without it.

Cheers all.

Exactly the thing I had in mind when I came up with this theme at stupid o'clock in the morning :D

Well done

I think I prefer the first one. The colours to me are better and it lends itself to the style better

Can't believe we're half way through!

Wonder what next month will bring ;)

I like you interpretation of Junes theme, I think the first one works best for me has a kind of old school textbook feel to it

I think it looks quite good without a smile :). Gives it a nice mood.

I prefer the colour one myself; it has more depth in my eyes.

I'm a bit worried about this theme, as it seems a little unchallenging. Thinking hard about how to make it different without it becoming something different altogether!

Great start to July, Andy. I like both versions and the images joining up quite well. She must at that age..... yes been there, twice! :D

Cheers. I might do some more of this type as quite like them.

3rd time for me....all girls :)

Hi, Mark, it isn't too challenging. Not complaining, though, some themes, for me, are to get me to try differnt techniques.

I have a few more ideas for this one that I may try.

Cheers all and I've booked Friday off work to see if I can get any more done.

:) :gag: :help:

It's very different, minimal and creative alright. Can't decide which one I prefer but I think the first one edge it by a nose! ;)

Cheers.

Whilst trying to remain humble...I'm really liking these. Might even get some prints...:D

Andy, I like what you have done with the joiner effect photo, it may not be as challenging as some of them but then maybe that's the challenge, to not overthink it ;) :D

Not decided on which self portrait I prefer yet, I think at the moment, it is the one with the bit of light on the nose so it makes it have a bit more definition but then I'll look at it later and change my mind  I like that you have followed the brief though to do something different as I wasn't sure how people would interpret it
