Yes
I try not to drink fizzy drinks anymore, about once a week i would guess. However when i do have the treat i tend to buy something a little more special. Have you had the pleasure of trying Fentimans Botanical brewed soft drinks? They are beautiful.

Yes! My personal favourite is Dandelion and Burdock. I also rather like Hooper's alcoholic version (I have a horrendously sweet tooth!)

I try not to drink fizzy drinks anymore either...

About twice a year for me, and it just needs to be cold and sweet at that point.

I thought you were a Victoria Beckham fan when I saw the title. :)

Yes, I've had Fentiman's D&B, but it didn't taste any more special than the stuff from Tesco at 65p for 2 litres - just a bit thinner like someone added soda water - and it seems outrageously priced for something quite ordinary.

Childhood memories for me, every Thursday we got posh pop

Yeah need to refine your test buds. :)

Yeah d&b is my favourite but the cherry cola is nice too. I fancy trying the rose lemonade next.

My dad used to make Dandelion and Burdock.
Now that, I do miss.

I'm not fond of fizzy/sweet drinks at all. Prefer orange juice, or lime and soda, but from freshly squeezed fruit.

My taste buds are pretty good, thanks, though more inclined towards drinks with a bit less sugar and fizz these days. :)

May I guide you to the medicinal Irn Bru, nectar of the proverbials, perfect hangover cure after a guid fry up too.
Strangely I've just tried that after several years ( Ok so it was on offer at Tesco's :D ) I had to see if it still tasted like witches p*** ....
I wasn't disappointed

You Heathen Cobra, nothing wrong with the amber nectar

Yeah, it tastes so much better if you're Scottish :p

Well I've never tried witches ... but if it tastes like the bru then give me their details, every penny counts..:pint:

I don't like sweet drinks. If I'm having a soft drink, I'll just have fizzy water or, if I'm feeling extravagant, soda water with a few drops of Angosturs bitters and a dash of lime.
Or a non-alcoholic beer!

I take it ye mean a bottle o' ginger for us up north?

Hmm. I was born and brought up in Scotland and I loathe Irn Bru. My daughter, South African born, has only visited the UK a few times and enjoys it...:D

Ah so thats where I'm going wrong! I did visit Scotland once for work though :D

Just google "Coven"
And I'm sure these lovely ladies will be happy to oblige

So its not a Scottish thing after all :D

MUST be Barr's Irn Bru rather than any of the Iron Brews that are available! (And still Lucozade/Gatorade/other hydration sports drinks are available work better, especially when topped up with plain old water!)

I'm sure you can find a witch who's willing to spend a pen...

I'd love to give it a try making it.

Any family recipe, Ruth?

Not fizzy, but got a voucher last week for a free one litre carton of coconut water which I duly collected.

Vile putrid tasting stuff, can imagine the smellly stagnant water you find in flower pots at the end of winter taste somewhat similar

Who would pay over three quid for that evil liquid, took ages to rid my mouth of the taste, worse than Greene King IPA

Elderflower Presse is very pleasant though, the Belvoir version was BOGOF in my local Waitrose this morning although I prefer the own brand with Cox apple
(yes I shop there, its our only local supermarket and the stuff is nice)

I'm always on the lookout for new (to me), non alcoholic drinks. So I've just ordered both, delivery tomorrow and Friday respectively.

PS. I really hope this was a serious post as otherwise I've fallen for it :P

Actually I really used to like Dandelion & Burdock as a kid, but I've not drunk it in years ..
So it may well be revolting now :(

I don't even know what Burdock is, Dandelion was something my grandparents ate in the war  But I'm up for trying anything new and rather bored with the big brands for soft drinks.

Waitrose do a really nice lemonade in a bottle with flip-top, I do enjoy that as well.

D&B tastes a bit like Dr Pepper.

Lots of folk who believe everything they read about the latest food fads.

It's a root drink its UKs version of root beer basically. Different roots so taste a bit different. Waitrose has a great range of posh pop.

I was, briefly, an Alpine Pop man.

The best pop I ever had was in Malta. Kinney.
Irn Bru is very good too.

Now, coincidentally, I discovered this weekend that my great grandfather had a pop manufacturing plant in Bootle. Apparently, his most popular was dandelion and burdock.

I'm guessing this would be late 1800s

I assume we all know pop is an acronym for piece of p***.

I didn't - I thought it was referred to as pop because of the fizz and the lid when opening the bottle makes a popping noise :) Don't know about your poop but mine definitely doesn't go pop.

Wrong toilet function. Damned swear filter. (y)
I thought only 10yr olds in the 60's referred to carbonated drinks as pop.
