I am thinking of taking a drive out to Posforth Gill waterfall nr Bolton Abbey this week but I am a bit stuck on location. Most of the searches on google bring up OS refs & maps

Anyone been there, wheres best to park and is it much of a trek? From what little info I have found it seems as though Barden lodge is a good starting point.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Steve

I was there a few days ago. Best place is the second car park up the wharfe from Bolton abbey, avoid in busy periods. Walk upstream and cross the footbridge to the right bank. Not far upstream a path leads uphill and right to a minor road. Follow this upstream and not far along on your right is a cottage with a stile. Follow this path uphill and eventually you reach a pond with paths going in two directions. You should be able to hear the fall there. I find the best path is to go right and then head to the beck before the fence appears. I recommend also following the minor path up to the higher fall, which isn't as tall but in a nice setting.

I found it easier to go by bus from ilkley which cut out any car parking issues. Hope this helps. It's well worth the walk and the crowds really thin out up there away from the main river.

As this thread appears to be nearly two years old i hope steve found it ok and he's not walking around aimlessly trying to get to his location :)

That's a relief...
I was getting worried and about to send out a search party, but thought I'd just give you another few hours.
