Edit My Images
No
Hi guys

Just a quickie, im thinking of buying portrait professional 10 for editing my portraits, do you think it is worth the money or am i better sticking with elements 8 and lightroom? anyone have any experience of portrait professional software.

Thanks

It only does what you can do in PS anyway, but, it does it so much quicker and easier.
You need to 'hold yourself in check' though, as it's easy to over cook images - but lots of fun :). Just wind back the settings, although I think the latest versions are slightly more subtle than the original versions.

I have got this and it is soooooo easy. couple of clicks and a few sliders and your sorted.

It's an excellent product, and worth the money for sure.

Let me know if you want a discount code for it. When I bought my copy I got a refer a friend code that is worth 15% off the price. You're welcome to use it. Drop me a PM with your email address and I'll send it over.

Cheers.

Agree with the other posts. Great piece of kit for the right situation. Doesn't always work as well as expected, but for straight on portrait shots its so easy to do, and the results are spot on.

There is another thread on the subject, worth checking here... LINK

And it's not a bad product at all. As others have said it doesn't do anything you can't do in photoshop but it's a lot quicker and easier at doing what it's designed for.

I'd steer clear if I were you. Its something I show my students as a novelty and to show them how awful it is. I don't really think it has much of a place in a professional workplace but I agree with previous posts that if you must use it, restraint is the key.

You can spot a PP'd image at a hundred paces and like so many post-production techniques it tends to be used entirely inappropriately - I've seen it used on babies, which is just horrible! How can you improve a baby, after all? The "china doll" look is very camera club in my opinion.

PP is a usefull bit of kit if you do a lot of portraits and find you want to retouch them, it's got things like face scultping (difficult to reproduce in photoshop without being time consuming) and skin softening, sadly the default setting (often used) is too strong and tends to give the plastic look, dial it down a bit and it's got uses.
Whether it's worth the money only you know.

I have yet to come across a third party software that will deliver good enough results. PSE or CS are your best mates here. Learn about split frequency healing and dodging and burning and you will never ever think about spending money on things like that.
