Portrait Lens

What do you reccomend for a portait lens...

i have a canon 30d and 400d, also have nifty fifty is there any other must have lens

85mm F1.8 gets my vote - about £200.

The nifty fifty is a great portrait lens! Used on an APS-C sensor it's giving you roughly 85mm 1.8 anyway!!

The 50mm f/1.8 would be equivalent, at 3m, to roughly an 80mm f/2.8 in full frame.
