This sounds good, i will give it a go....

[pedant]
12 is either midnight or midday, so cannot be AM or PM...[/pedant]

Sorry, I never thought of that, I'll split mine into seperate posts now.

I can spot a subtle hint when I see one ;)

Would it be considered bad form to post my images in the portrait section as well? I would really appreciate some critique.

Oooo I forgot all about this , going to have to try to find a model quick sharp

It was my nieces 9th birthday so I travelled light....photographically that is as it was an all you can eat so I wasn't exactly light when I came back  Removed the battery grip and used the 35mm f/1.8 with an SB600.

MD do i have too resize too 800 on the longest side? Because im not really sure how too!

If anyone can give me some pointers that would help, have cs5 and lightroom 3.4. Can get too the cropping bit but cant see where i can set the size too 800 x whatever.

Got mine posted, I can't help with resizing within cs5 and lightroom as I don't use them. I upload the file to flickr which and when posting in the threads it is automatically resized, or at least that's how I think it works.

Well I've given it a go. Not over happy with the result as I couldn't set my flashes as I wanted, it's the first time I've tried E-TTL off camera.

Just added mine.

My first JPEG from a DSLR since 2006. Hopefully my last too.....

Have to say Tim, I think it's the first time I've shot JPG since I had the 40D. My 50D never had a JPG run through it, and this is the first time I've done it on the 7D.

However, I really like the concept of the competition though, it made me think a lot more about the what comes straight out of camera, especially the crop. I think many of us get complacent about using digital and the use of basic image manipulation.

I learned an awful lot from the exercise. It certainly help me to focus on certain aspects, unfortunately looking back at my pictures I was too focused on lighting and composition and not enough on exposure, but you live and learn.

I've only had it a while, but I learned quite a bit about my camera as well. There's a lot of adjustment stuff under the hood that I never knew existed, I just fell straight into the trap of trying to sort things out in PS.

It was difficult to re-size in PS without adding a quick curves adjustment though!!!

Well done to everyone that entered, there are some really nice pictures on there.

It defiantly makes you think more rather than just rushing and thinking ill sort that out afterwards.
Must remember to take the camera of jpeg now thou.

I had a complete nightmare doing this.. Just got camera back from elstree Friday because it was backfocusing it cost me 100 squids for new focus module but now it forward focusses!!! At least before I could focus on the nose and the eyes would be sharp!! Sorry rant over ; ( it was agony not being able to use LR.. As quite a few of my best shots were under exposed because I relied on the screen instead of histogram!! And my screen was on full brightness from the day before!! We should do it again though as I did enjoy it.

If they've adjusted the focus then you'll need to recalibrate with all your lenses I'd assume... I assume the 5d has the same thing the 7d has ie micro-adjustment.

Unfortunately No! I have the mk1 which does not have the micro adjust function!

Ah. Then I think the body and lenses all need to go canon/independent for calibration. Personally I'd just learn to focus behind where I wanted :D

Ive had the lens checked it came back all clear, then I had the body checked with the 85f1.2 on with instructions to calibrate to that lens at widest aperture they then charged me for a new focus thingy but it just forward focuses now! And that is exactly what I was doing when it back focused focussing on the nose. Have ever tried focusing past the eyes at f1.2 its hard enough to get right at the best of times!!

Anyway we are off topic... where do we vote??;)
