Greetings Everyone.

Wondering if someone has noticed price increase on Kodak Portra 400 35mm Rolls. Purchased few packs (5x pack) couple of weeks ago for 31 Pounds from Amazon, They are selling same for 40 Pounds.

Where do you guys source your Film from?

Thanks & Regards

T

When I looked a couple of weeks ago Macodirect were selling 5-packs for €40, but the postage is something like €16 and the conversion rate wasn't as good as I expected. Need to buy a few packs to justify...

afaik the exchange rate is approx 1.30 euro to a pound atm so one pack of five films at 40 euros plus 16 euros postage equates to £43 which is a fraction over what the OP states that amazon is selling for so purchasing several boxes would possibly work out the same £40 price if not cheaper.

T'is why i offered to stand the macodirect postage and bring films over to the film meet in sept but no one took me up on the offer ...at 40 euros a box that would have cost £31 and be postal cost free

As it is their 120 format 400 iso portra is 31.50 euros for a box of five films...that's like 24 quid!

Aha! Thanks your replies folks.
Did kodak announce new prices though?
Asha were you going to order bulk to save on postage?

Not a bulk buy as such.
I live in France, however I'm meeting up with some of the f&c crowd in September in the UK.
As i was ordering film etc for myself, to add any requests from the filmies in the UK would add nothing to my postal fee with Macodirect and then of course i would simply carry the film in my luggage.
As it is, my order is on it's way so too late to order for anyone else I'm afraid.

As for your original topic ..... Some time ago 7dayshop were doing portra for £20 a box inc postage.....It was a promotion that lasted several weeks iirc...maybe they still do occasional offers like that.

aaah! 20 pounds a box!!!
Where is the next meet up in uk?
September is long way. Did you stock up bigtime?

i dunno when there's another filmie meet .......keep your eyes open in this f&c section of the forum and you're sure to see a thread when the guys want another meet.

No i didn't stock up big time, ...I made the purchase worthwhile but not at the expense of purchasing a boat load of stuff......and portra wasn't on my list!

I wonder if the price increase is down to the recent supply problems? I saw the price rocket when it became harder to get hold of, but that seems to have eased off a bit now so perhaps the prices will drop back? Portra 160 seems substantially cheaper at the moment so that's always an option if you don't specifically need a 400 speed film?

Carl, Indeed 160 Portra is Cheaper and i use it whenever i can but Prices of portra 400 caught my attention as 10 Pounds is a substantial jump in price.
Infact Porta 800 is almost the same price of 400 at some sites. i need to try that.
