Can anyone point me in the direction of some sports portfolios i can look at.

Im constantly reading agency's/pros complain that everything they get sent is not good enough and how standards are pretty poor.
I trying to find some portfolios to see what these high standards actually are.

Ive already come across Bob martins on his site, is this the level of stuff they are looking for? or is this just way above the benchmark and the exceptional work of a top pro

To give you a rough idea of the very basic standard, these are a selection from the portfolio that I submitted to the Daily Mail when they were advertising for a trainee sports photographer:

Thanks. Ill give them all a look

From speaking to a pro it seems that the main problem with most portfolios is that they are all full of action shots and lacking in the other arty kind of shots that make them stand out. He said most people just fill there's with similar stuff to what you see on the back pages.
I was told to think half action, half sports illustrated, and i cant instantly tell why from a quick look at some of those listed above

Demiloin, if you dont mind me asking how was the feedback you received. Pm me if you would rather not post in the open

I was in the top 5% of applicants with the portfolio rated at 8.5/10 (there were two 9/10s), was short listed and interviewed, but that's as far as I got.

Edit:

Speaking from limited knowledge, I'd agree that you need to show the capability of being able to see a variety of shots and not just the standard action ones, which is exactly the route that I took when selecting the shots for submission; five different sports, multiple angles and techniques, and only two key action shots in a port of six.
