Edit My Images
Yes
hello all, i have recently applied to do an a-level in photography at my local college and they have asked me to prepare a portfolio to present to them.
Now they have stated they want a theme to my portfolio to tell a story if that makes sense instead of a load of random shots, i am struggling to find a "theme".

has anyone ever done this kind of thing before or have any suggestions of a relevent theme?.

just looking for inspiration really im not looking to copy anyones ideas.

Thanks in advance

All the best
Rob.

Think of a subject personal to you, your passion,

youll get more recognition if its from your heart, rather than oh I have this to do

other wise youll be trying other togs ideas, and emulate them, and prob most of your class will be too

Looking at your recent shots it motorsport, so obviously thats the theme, now how to show this in a creative manner, your subject could be speed, cars through the years, or crashes/ I dont know Im not into MS so maybe some one who is could make suggestion, close ups of car parts, even close ups of parts/motion, you know what you like, thats your theme with passion, post afew shots and get feedback

i see what your saying dave, so lets say my interest or passion is aviation, now to me this is quite a popular area looking through this forum and countless other forums.

i have been lately experimenting editing my photos in HDR just to try to do something different to make my images stand out and not look so similar to everybody elses, however my feedback has not been to brilliant, apart from editing different i just cant see how i am gonna make my portfolio stand out from the rest if you like. i dont even know if it should stand out or am i making hard work of something that should be a simple process, maybe i am trying to hard, will they take into account that i am trying to make mine stand out or will they purely go on the standard of an original photo?.

you can probably tell this is my first attempt at making a portfolio and i have been racking my brains for weeks trying to work out how to do it properly.

thanks for your comments dave much appreciated .

Ooops Sorry for the slow reply, my pics have just been on Granada TV I missed them I do a screen vid capture of them, so getting loads of texts/emails and pms

Ill have a think, but you think whats your passion do that

I'm a bit late adding this, but hopefully it will still be of some use!

If you go here:

http://www.rps.org/licentiateship

There are a couple of very useful guides which detail how to put together an application for an LRPS. It's a slightly different standard to your A Level, but the basic principals of how to put a portfolio together will still hold true and the advice on common errors wouldn't go amiss either
