Portfolio Site

First of all, welcome to the forum.

The first thing I noticed about your site was the confusing splash page, the second was the title mainly being underscores, rubbish for SEO and you don't actually see any of the title on the tabs in my browser.

The graphics on the left look good, but I left the site after it started popping up new windows, resizing them and losing the toolbar.

Splash page can be confusing, i agree.

Title is poor, and will change, as your correct, you cannot see it in tabbed browsing.

The popping up windows are from the thumbnails you click on, many websites use this. And i have made it purposely to resize to fit the image size and to hide toolbars.

OK, I am viewing your site in Firefox 3.5.2 on Debian Linux OS based PC

First page, Blog link is over lapping the "popped out to the shop" text, also when pointer is moved over the word "Blog" it disappears

Next page (index2.php), on the right "About the boy", the bottom of the text is lost as it is over written by the remaining menu, the last full line I see is "I hope you enjoy". I should point out that I am seeing the page as large picture on the left, then there is a small column which is titled Content\Location and then on the right I have a third column "About the boy"

From the "About the Boy" column, if I click web sites the 2nd column chnages to 5 different graphics which represent web sites, I can't see any representation between the graphic and the web site unless there is some prior knowledge, simply put a new user to your site won't know what graphic represents what web site. When I click one of these graphics a new pop up windows opens but it seems to stall while loading as it sits there say transferring from chewv.co.uk or read chewx.co.uk and the progress bar never seems to move above half way.

I have not checked any other pages, hope this helps

gotta admit, the popups are annoying and will be blocked by popup blockers.

use something like SimpleViewer :]

Definally something i need to look at. Works fine on my mac with safari, and good on my pc with firefox. Will have to check all different platforms though.

Not sure what the transferring thing is all about, and yes i can alter the overlaps easy. I've just never seen this layout go wrong on a viewer.

WIll consider changing the image viewer.
 
The popup boxes shouldnt be blocked by popup blockers, because they are user activated. In fact they worked fine for me (using Adblock Plus) and its nice to see someone using something other than simpleviewer/lightbox.

The site is not bad - but I think the splash screen needs to be redone - or gotten rid with. The text on your main site needs to be a bit bigger. The underscores in the page title are kinda annoying, and I think google will take a dim view of them.

The site is almost there, but just a few tweaks here and there.

Thanks, means a lot, i 100% agree with you there, im glad not everyone hates the pop up viewer. I also have a pop up blocker and it works fine. Will change splash screen and title asap.

depends what popup blocker you have...
 
Ridded the splash page, changed the title, pop ups are staying as they are relevant, and no other pop up should come up, except the picture you clicked on. And a lot of decent pop up blockers (if they do block) will ask to allow or diss-allow and for those that would want to look at my work would obviously allow.
