Hi there, guys!

As you may or may not know, I've just left my degree in Graphic Design and am looking to start again on a photography degree!

Good news is that I've got an interview on Friday morning! :D

Hopefully I'll be able to go straight onto the course, starting in January, as a transfer from my current course.

They have told me to bring a 'few photographs' but don't bother with being too formal (as I did my foundation at the same place, so they already know me...)

However, i feel like I should take a proper portfolio in...

I'm just looking for a bit of advice about where to start, really!

Do I organise them into 'themes' or by date, or...?

I've done one for Graphics, so i know the basic layouts etc that they like to look at.... but does a photographic portfolio differ from a graphics one?

I hope that makes sense!

Any help much appreciated :)

Thank you :)

I have mine organised into themes, and sub themes. Sport (motorsport/athletics/football )
People (glamour/portraits/promotional/musicians) Landscapes, Advertising, Stock.

Bean, personally I would recommend choosing your best photographs regardless of theme and subject matter, no fewer than twelve and no more than twenty. Show the images that most accurately and honestly reflect your skill and style.

I know you've said you already have an idea of what sort of layouts they like. I would just throw in that when I do portfolio reviews, the number one thing that drives me absolutely nuts is when the prints are in plastic sleeves. The sleeves dull the tones and colors of the images, and the reflections from them are incredibly annoying. These days the first thing I do is take every print out of the sleeve so I can view them properly.

You might not have time, but you could also print a photobook of your best images. That would give a quite good impression.

Hey guys!

I ended up doing a Flash interactive portfolio!

I didn't get chance to sort through my images on wednesday night and so would have missed the photo processing place once i'd sorted them all out on Thursday afternoon!!

So I bit the bullet and taught myself a teeny bit of flash!

Took it in on my own laptop and he had a browse through himself! He seemed to like it!!

Anyway... I was offered an unconditional offer, so it must have worked!!! :D

WHOOP!! :D

Also the chemicals in the plastic sleeves react with the chemicals in the print, making them sticky and ruining the images.
