Hi all,
I have been asked to take the photographs at a school fashion show in April and also the Year 11 prom in June. The organizers have asked if it is possible to print photos on the two nights. I have been given a good budget to buy a portable printer and wondered if anyone could give me some advice on what would be the most suitable to buy? If possible does anyone know of a good stand-alone printer as I don't want to have to cart a laptop along with photo equipment:bang:

I did the same at a fete/dog show in the summer.
Took my ordinary printer Canon pixma 5000. Shot in RAW and printed straight from the camera with a lead.

Everyone was chuffed with their shots. No editing needed.

Failing that... Epson photomate?

I'd be tempted to take along a printer that you know and trust rather than trying to get good results from an unfamiliar printer.

Canon Selphy ES1 for £100 is very small and has a carrying handle and you can also get a battery pack for it. Uses that Dye Sub instead of inks and quality is very good, you simply slot in a cartridge which has the dye and paper all in one (50 or 100 packs) and away it goes! hehe - has that photo lab look to it. Instant dry also and prints a 6x4 in about 40 seconds max.

Can take all types of memory cards including CF and uses the latest Canon image processor I think (quicker to start printing).
