Well I have managed to slow my laptop right down having filled it with raw image files and my old 250gb external HD backup is full so i am looking for a 1tb portable external hard drive and have found 3 I can afford. WD elements 1tb 3.0 £57.99 currys (500gb version £39.99), Hitachi MX3 touro 1tb 3.0 £53.21 ebuyer and samsung M3 3.0 1tb £56.99 ebuyer. I am only using it for storing images so it does not have to be the fastest just reliable and cheap.

I use WD elements and have never had a problem with it

I've also found Seagate backup plus 1tb for £59.

Over the past 5 years I've used Seagate, WD & Verbatim external HDDs, some portable some not. All still working.... well one is showing signs of becoming a little flakey but it's the oldest and fullest of them all.

Thank you, I think I will get the WD passport for a bit more but comes with software and has very good reviews is £64 in currys

Another vote for the WD Passport.

So far very reliable and nice compact size.
