As per title I need one. I have a phone that isnt android or an Iphone and dont want either for the matter either so thats a no go.

Im running ipad and Eye fi cards to send pics to my pad on location.

which is out of stock and not easy to get hold of in the uk.

Is there anything people recommend for us here in the Uk. I just need something to create a wifi network for the pad and card to talk over. No internet connection needed/wanted.

Damn wish eyefi would bring out direct mode tomorrow!
 
Hmm, you may be able to power a normal wifi router from batteries, many of them run from 12v DC...
 
How about a mifi module. Wifi "router" AND 3G connectivity should you need it. When I last looked at this, 3 were the cheapest.
 
Do you have a spare wireless modem router. I've looked on the back of 2 old ones I have and they take standard 12v connectors. You could power these from a 12 Volt car accessory socket. I've got several of the 12Volt plugs that have come with AA battery chargers and torches Might be a simple and inexpensive option. ( provided you can work near the car.

Will a EyeFi card work without a computer to talk to. I was under the impression that some sort of server software was needed, and that had to be installed on a computer. Please correct me if I am wrong
