Right, hi everyone, this is my first post.
I really need some help here, i have uni interviews in a few weeks and no one in my class has any ideas on what to do about how to showcase there work in portfolio form.
We have a choice of books or those big black bags, then we have to find prints, and its all confusing and im trying to find the best looking and cheapest way to showcase my work.
Any ideas?
I have 20 images, and i want them about A3 size.

My personal choice would be to have them printed and mounted. A 10 x 12 print usually looks good in a 16 x 20 mount. A single mount this size will usually set you back around £5 and online prints under £1.

Having said that for 20 images it may be cheaper to have a book printed up. I have used Photobox and Blurb with good results - I would probably sway towards Blurb if it is specifically to show case your work. I did see another get a good magazine review recently for a company called 'Bobs Books' but am yet to try them.

id rather be able to change around the portfolio. so i think the folder is best, im investing in a A3 folder tomorrow, im going to use around 20 images or so. maybe put a few on a page.

i knew what i wanted, i just didnt know where to get it :/

Have you not received any advice from your college? I'd have thought they'd be a good source of information on things like this?

^^this^^

You don't say what course(s) you are applying for, but...

Unis want students to do well, and giving advice is part of their job. Ask both your current tutor(s) (who really should have covered this) and the unis you are applying to for an outline of what they are looking for. See if you can contact current students (via the NUS).

And really, really do make sure your application is spell checked and has upper-case letters and apostrophes relevantly appended!

Good luck.

You'll get the A3 folder from and good art shop. For printing there are loads of online printers you can send your files to, personally though, bearing in mind what it is for I would find and use a local print house. This gives you greater control over the final image, colour balance etc.

I really wouldn't just put a3 prints in a folder, I would use a smaller print in a mount and have them in your folder.
