Hello All. I want to take some pics of Red Poppy Fields but can't find one, wondering when & where they will be Blooming, I live near Southend-on-Sea Essex but can travel.

One of the issues is the nature of poppies means they can often go several years without being seen in a field and then one year you get a massive display, some of this will also be down to contaminated crop seed...I remember the first field at the end of my lane having a massive display of poppies basically a field of red one summer when I was a kid, it's never happened since :(

It's also worth sticking a search for poppies and your local area into Flickr, though like as not your also have to put some miles in checking any locations you find in previous years I seem to remember July/Aug being the months however the weather will have a baring on this
 
I had a massive field of poppies just down the road from me on a farm and was planning to go and take some shots. The weather was really bad for the next two days so I never got there but I went the day after that and they'd all been cut down. There was a few left where a pathway goes through the field but I was so disappointed.

This was taken a couple of years ago at the same spot so I must go earlier next year before the farmer decimates them again. This was taken on the edge of the small pathway. I guess you'll need to have qa drive around the outskirts of Southend and see if you can find some but make sure you take your camera with you.

Nice pic of the Poppies, what time of the year was it taken? I drove around the countryside here today but only saw one poppy by the roadside Grrrr! I'll just have to keep looking LOL. :sulk:

There's hundred of photos there, most will have the date taken, a reasonable number will indicate location, your just going to have to do a little leg work I'm afraid, also it's possible as I said earlier while a location had them that year it could be they have them the following year but equally it may not have a display again for years
