Strange pale halo around her head. Is this poor post processing or a lighting effect?

I have to say its nice to see a more modern photo, not eaten out with stuffiness and gold leafed background as if they were trying to replicate paintings of the 1700's. Its nice to see them as people rather than lost as humans in an ostentatious display of wealth and power.

She's either using radio-active shampoo, or it's a very deliberate post-processing effect, applied in the same way to Charles who also has a bit of a glow going on. But it's over-done, looks obvious and fake.

An error of judgement IMHO. Photographer Nick Knight is a very, very good photographer though, and apart from that I like the image a lot.

What's puzzled me since I first saw it is the yellowish cast to the shadow low down and behind Charlie that also sweeps down to the lower right corner. It looks an odd choice.

Gold - royal, matches the chair, complementary to her dress and the rest of the background, makes sense to me.

The gilded chair achieves the compliment to the dress, it's more the way the yellow cast is banked into that corner.. it's as though Charlie's just released something silent but deadly..

I hope those crops are the responsibility of the newspaper and have not been done by the photographer. To cut off the legs like that looks really odd.
