Dog.....bone....

They're just practising for when you get your license back.

I'm all for law enforcement. Since taking public transport the amount of kids you see dodging fares by hiding from the guards. I hope the transport police will get as vigorous as police Scotland's road policing division.

I am looking forward to not meeting dibble again. Watch out on the roads. This is of course no concern to anyone here as no one here ever speeds or will speed. Right.

Yeh, I've been done for speeding. Sucked it up because it was my fault and I was caught but I don't bore the pants off everyone whittering on about it all the time and taking rather childish cheap pops at the cops all the time.

If yeh feel that strongly about it get off yer @rse and go see somebody at Police Scotland and air yer grievances with them or yer local MP or something. See how that goes.

More faces than the town hall clock:eek:

Huh? What's with the personal comments and condescending rhetoric?

I'm merely pointed out the police/dibble/Plod/Bib/polis have caught more speeders than ever before but it's targeted.

What would they do if no one sped or broke road traffic law? How can they be told to meet targets that are totally dependent on the actions of others. Seems hard and unfair on the folk on the job?

You continue to bleat on negatively about the Police but do b****r all about it. If you feel that strongly do something or don't you have the balls to walk into a Police station and voice your opinions or don't you think they'll listen to yer whining pish and take it seriously.

Whether you admit it or not it's pretty obvious to all who know about your ban (which you've mentioned time after time) that it's all just sour grapes. You really need to grow up and get over it.

Dibble, BiB, Plod, Polis, police. I've got a wide vocabulary - I don't see the problem?

Your vocabulary shrinks by the moment. As does your credibility.

Dibble, BiB, Plod, Polis, police.
When I was a Policeman, they called me Bernie, cause that's my name........

Anyway, overshot Targets? Mrs May tells us that she's done away with Targets?????? Oh my, does that mean she's...lied?????????
A Politician not telling the truth? Who'd have thought it????

Don't think she had much to do with the Police in Scotland tho. Try MacAskill. I'll say no more:rolleyes:

Jesus, we get it you don't like the police

Hey wait, what are your thoughts in police dogs?!

Edit: ha I posted that before reading the replies. Glad I'm not alone.

I'm not bleating about anything. Can someone please present me with proof that I'm bleating?

I thought it was an interesting subject that our police are targeted and told to catch x number of offences. What it means is this will drive a certain type of behaviour not unlike the behaviour by bankers leading up to the 2008 fiasco. What other areas of our policing see forced stats and are we getting a good policing when the man in the street has quotas to fill.

it.

What you don't know, and I imagine that's a great many things, is I did make a complaint a good few years ago.

I was at a road closure on the A82 dcw through Dumbarton and was at the head of the queue. I was waved through by an officer only to be greeted about 1/2 mi further in by a police 5 series driving on the otherside of the dcw. They'd closed off that carriageway to get him through to attend a lorry crash. I shouldn't have been waved through.

The complaint was handled well.

I want you to stop trolling. I'm entitled to voice my views and this is an off topic board. Don't like my threads/posts/views don't post or read them.

Trolling?? Wise up!!! I'm as entitled to my opinion as much as you are and if I disagree with what you say I will continue to air that opinion. Get over it, it's what Forums are for.

Try growing up and stop your pathetic, childish, incessant, generally groundless and inane sniping at the authorities and dry yer eyes:rolleyes:

I'm going to add something useful to the thread other than your snipes at me. I'm too entitled to my views and will continue to air those views. It's what's forums are for ;). So know, I'm not going to stop posting.

I'll quote the article.

"The number of deaths on Scotland’s roads increased by 14 per cent last year and the inspectors suggested officers should have been given more discretion over whether to issue a warning instead of a fine"

Do despite catching more speeding drivers deaths actually went up. It seems to me that taking £100 and 3 points off folk isn't actually saving lives. Who'd have thought...

I was once challenged te same - spent some time as a civilian on the local police liason board meetings etc. I don't think I managed any changes, but it sure was an education.

Back to the story anyway. It wasn't so long ago that police forces were refusing to admit they had targets set for specific offences.
With the aggressive targets set, it does mean that any officers discretionary approach is effectively taken away.

As I've previously been the beneficiary of this in the past, I see this as a shame.

Here's a radical idea,
Why not try having an adult discussion without resorting to playground taunts,
and name calling?

Give it a go, you may like it :)

Nope, I'm wrong, there it is.:help:

or try stopping the op blessing us all with his hatred of traffic cops who were simply doing their jobs when nicking him for driving lime a tool.

His constant reference to "dibble" is pathetic in the extreme.

Or a novel idea, if you don't like the thread, don't post on it.

I see no-one has addressed the bit quoted in bold. Have a go....

The subject matter is irrelevant.
Be we, the staff are noticing more and more playground taunts and TBH
we are getting fed up with the RTM's and bitching about he said / she said.

This as you know is a place for "almost" any topic goes.

If people didn't keep baiting him, Steve would soon get bored.
But it seems that a few just can't help themselves.

If you don't like the subject matter, or the header, there are no rules that
say you have to read the post, or thread.
Or indeed reply.

As I've said a few times, members have one huge advantage over mods,
they have an ignore button.

Wrong... I addressed it in #25 but it got lost amongst the others

A pure cop out, or is that dibble out.

As much as I despise various ACPO level police officers, their systems, their attitude to people lower in rank than themselves and the public (based purely on personal experience) the fact remains that the vast majority of front line police officers are hard working, dedicated and effective.
IMO, we should all support the work they do, regardless of whether or not their enforcement of the laws (which they didn't create themselves) suits us.
And as for calling them names - that says more about the namers than the namees.

Wrong... I addressed it in #25 but it got lost amongst the others

Sorry. Please accept my appologies. Whilst the others agonise and deliberate over my choice of word to describe our fine police officers and the policies they are given to work on we can chat about the thread.

No, I highly doubt that the 14% increase in deaths is attributed to speeding drivers, as speed usually isn't the cause of a collision but more often or not inattention, observation, clumsy steering and braking. Speeders are an easy target as the guilty verdicts are easy to come by, the fines role in and thats the end of it. I'd love to see what road policing was like if there were no fines attached to to the pentalty, merely points and disqualification for offenses. It would be fairer too, I'd imagine as richer folk will think nothing of a £100 fine, but poorer folk will. The traps won't be set on rural roads which have the highest fatality rates, but major trunk routes and 30 zones which the level of infractions will be higher, and the revenue stream that much more lucrative.

I am not actually against the individuals that work in the police. Dibble etc, its slang, people get wound up at it. The policies and instructions they are given are bizarre, but that is politicians for you.

I don't do "mod baiting" Chris, don't be so ridiculous.
