So... having thought it would be cool to get polaroids off the back of the quarter plate I looked around and - realising there was no quarter option - decided to get the closest (I thought) thing. Sitting here looking at a 545 land film holder it is nothing like what I was expecting to be sitting here looking at! I wanted to load a cassette of film and get them out one at a time, while with this back it seems I have to load the films one at a time.

Anyone know if there is any way to do what I am after? The more I think about it the more I am thinking about power and drives and so on to the point that I may just have to stick with the 545 but if I can wriggle out of it... :naughty:

~edit hmm. 405 back eh?

Yes, I realise that - hence the question about cassette-loading polaroid backs. Like the 405...

405 is 4x5 back that takes type 100 film like fp100c. There are no electronics involved, totally manually. Think your problem is that quarter plate is smaller than 4x5 so not sure you are going to be able to fit one in?

Not sure what camera you have but you could try this manual method for fun. Get a pack of instax film, open it in the dark take a sheet out, affix it to film holder. Load it in camera, expose, take it back out in the dark and roll over it to release and spread the chemicals (in my case I had a polaroid back with some rollers so I reinserted the film and pushed it through the rollers). I tried this is Mamiya Super 23 camera and 6x9 film holder and it seemed to work fine.

More information here.

Would a 6x6 Polaroid back be any good Arthur? I've got one for an SQ-A that I don't use.

I'm gonna chuck in with Kev, a 6x6 Polaroid back for a camera I don't even have, Bronica S2A.
Gotta mention it is only 6x6 because of the aperture is manufactured to fit 6x6, there may be a way to make a new plate with a bigger aperture and also incorporate some method of attaching it to the quarter plate, but without seeing the camera....I dunno.
FP polaroids are certainly big enough, they always seem like a bit of a waste, all that polaroid real estate with a 6x6 image in the corner..

There are a few of them around certainly Kev - and fitting them to the back of the camera would not be a major problem to tell the truth.

On the electronics front I was thinking more the push button film pops out type, which would certainly be an issue. Hence not mentioned at the same time as the the 405, which is more in line with what I am trying to do here and get an instant pic from the quarter plate. I do have the roll back for it, and the plate backs too - just want to update it a bit before the film becomes unavailable again!
