polarizer,any good

that's about a tenth of the price of a Hoya or equivalent - I'd certainly be suspicious as to whether it was worth having.... but if you're happy to experiment and don't mind if you miss the odd shot, then it is a hell of a saving!

Yep i know what your saying m8,is it worth getting, god knows.:D

I accidentally got a cheap CPL. :shake:

Complete 'mare. I could not focus beyond about 20m, if at all.

Ah well back to the drawing board.:)

Cheers for that John, will check it out.:)

I've used a 7 day shop cpl in the past. Looks like a 77mm is £7.49 at the moment. They aren't bad, as good as most of the budget versions costing up to 5 times as much. They can have a slight colour cast to them but thats easily removed when setting your white balance. But when you think it's less than a tenth of the price of something like a B&W you can't realy complain.

Cheers for that Alex,seen them,still looking around.:)

Why spend £500 on a lens then ruin the IQ with a cheap nasty pola. filter. I've got a Hoya Pro 1D, which is pretty damned good, and perhaps just as important has a relatively thin frame (as does the Marumi that John linked to) which is useful in avoiding Vignetting with the 17-40, especially if you're on full frame and have a Pola. and then a ND stacked on the end of the lens.

Cheers for that guys, will have to let the wife settle down a bit before i drop hints about money again i think.:D:):thumbs:

Can I please ask why you would want to buy a quality lens with quality optics only to chuck a piece of cheap glass in front of your lens? Would you buy and quality CD player only to listen to your music through paper cup speakers?

You dont have to spend a fortune, but you do get what you pay for.

Yep i know,i might sell off my 50mm F1.8 MK11 to fund it as i dont really use it & it might keep her indoors happy.:D:lol:

Buying that filter will leave the same impression as buying her an iron for her birthday!
