Polarised Filter For Photographing Paintings?

I have a 60mm lens for photographing paintings. I use two sets of lights set either side of the paintings. Should I use a polarising filter to reduce the sparkles, where the lights catch the brush strokes etc. What type and quality of filter should I be using?
