Not for me but I have been asked the question, what would be a good and capable Point & Shoot for the trip, a bit of Safari I would say, also scenary and general snapshots.

A budget of £150 was mentioned not sure how rigid this is though, I have no idea so I thought I would ask you guys !

Thank you in advance !

I'd recommend a Canon G9 or the new G10 but it's out of your budget. Would be the compact most suited to what you want as it's built like a tank and has all the controls of a Canon DSLR.

For that budget i'd go for something in the Canon IXUS range. Really good little cameras and great value for money. The IXUS 75 is £150 from Amazon.co.uk.

It would not need any DSLR type functions, just auto and be reliable, I have recommended a visit to Wilkinson's Cameras where I know they will get good advice but I just thought I would ask on here and see if there was any first hand experiences :)

The G9 has full auto (and semi-auto modes) and is very strong and reliable. But out of your budget is lower so i'd get a Canon IXUS.

Another vote for Canon Ixus - pretty fail safe if the user is not too camera savvy. If they are they might be disappointed with the lack of control over shutter speed / aperture. I think the Ixus 80 is now in your budget on Amazon.

Another camera to consider (sounds like you're on safari?) is the Ixus 860 (slightly over budget at £170) similar functionality to the 80 but a longer optical zoom.
