I've just purchased a couple of PW TT5's and I've been shooting in manual mode with flash in TTL. So how do I adjust the flash exposure compensation when the D3 hasn't got it built in. Is the Ac3 needed?

If the flash has built in ttl, doesn't it also have built in exposure compensation too? Nikon ones certainly do, or at least 800 and 900 for certain.

I'm using a sb-900 so for sure I can walk over to the Speedlight and change the power. I was shooting some relatives children the other week, I was 20-25ft from the flash and shooting from a ditch ( don't ask) just wondering if there's an alternate way to adjust flash power on a D3 without climing out of the ditch.

OK, the D300/700 have a flash button, separate to the pop up button, which controls the type on flash from one control wheel [rear, red eye, etc] and flash exposure compensation from the other wheel. Now I dont have a D3, but I pressume it has something similar for when using a hotshoe flash. So if it has, wouldn't dialling in some under/over exposure on that have the same effect?

The D3 doesn't have any FEC options(assuming because of no onboard flash), and I was shooting wide open on my 70-300 so no option to open the aperture any wider, I just needed a half a stop more light on the subject. So an AC3 or a 70-200, mmmmm let me think.. AC3 wins, or not be so lazy!
