Yes
So before I go off looking to make some over-expensive purchases elsewhere, does anyone on TP supply these?

I have some FITP triggers and they're great for the cost and what they do, but I want more flexibility and to extend the ETTL capabilities

They are coming with the shields for free, so it isn't cheaper.

For this to work, I believe you still need a choke and the flex receiver has to be above the flash, which makes it a lot less easier as well.

Easiest solution is to use it with 430exII.

Not at all.
However, it was just a suggestion. Take it or leave it.

according to Pocket Wizard themselves

"433 MHz units sold in Europe and other parts of the world are not greatly impacted by RF interference."

anyone here use them with a 580 EXII and can confrim or otherwise?

ah ok

so is it that they don't work at all or just with the 580 exii or just with the 580 exii when they are connected directly to hotshoe and not via a cable?

ah that might be it then, apparently its the exii that has problems, even the 430 exii is ok apparently

maybe time to go back to the drawing board

I use one with a 580ex ii and works 100% up to 15-20 metres (I've not tried it any further than that).

The weight of evidence suggests that all 580ex II are not equal - some units cause more interference than others.

of course i wouldn't need this if you could source some triggers that worked with ETTL :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

(those are smileys in case anyone thinks I'm having a dig at FITP)

There's a lot of new stuff in the pipeline, including (so I believe) some ttl triggers from YongNuo

maybe I'll wait then!

of course if they could get them to work with my backup nissin di622 that would also help :bang:

I assisted at a wedding, whose photographer was given one of the first ce set in this country to test.

Unfortunately, they weren't very reliable. Within 5metres or so, they would misfire maybe 30%, beyond 10metres maybe half and half at best, and when they fired, they would occasionally grossly overexpose for no reason.

Firmware may have helped, and they may be much better now. But I've read way too much about their problems to ever consider them.

Roll on the mark 2 2.4ghz versions (we hope).

I dont like being a £400 beta tester for LPA.

Very similar experience with them :( Mine went back for a full refund after 5 months of (beta) testing. LPA tried to help but couldn't get them to work. I'm a CE user with 3 580EXIIs.

If you mean the radio TTL flex, make sure you get the sock or the shield with it. Personally, I'd be looking for a 30 day money back guarantee with it wherever I got it from. LPA do this, but only in the USA.

Kris, thanks for posting that link. It's an excellent update of the PW situation, which seems to have improved quite a bit recently.

I was also unaware of a few things, like the fact that EC spec guns, being slightly higher frequency, are less affected by RF interference than the US versions (good news :) ) and that folks like Michael Bass (v helpful bloke I have found) have been briefed to modify 580EXII guns.

Basically, in the light of all that has gone on since the difficult birth of these wonderfully clever but troubled devices, I think I'm now prepared to consider a set without too many worries. They're still £400 though...

If Yongnuo ever crack the Canon IR ETTL signals and send them over radio waves.....

Swoon.....

so radiopoppers :D

man they can#t sort out their world distribution deal fast enough...
