As above really, is anyone using this combination on Nikon, and if so how are the results particularly on i-TTL mode, just trying to decide between these and Radio Poppers, if anyone has tried both and can make a comparison all the better, many thanks :)

I use that setup all the time, very reliable system.

What would you like to know?

Thanks Derek, you may have already answered my question, i was just wondering about the reliability of the system compared to Radio poppers, as i thought their were some issues with the Nikon version of these ITTL version Pocket wizards when they first came on the market :)

No major issues (despite what web forums would lead you to believe). Well not in my experience any way (your mileage as always may vary), though there are a few gotchas to be wary off.

1. Always turn on the flash, wait, then turn on the transceiver, wait, then turn on the transceiver on camera, wait and finally turn on the camera.

2. Always ensure fresh batteries in the PW's otherwise you will get triggering issues.

3. Disable sleep mode on your flashes.

Would I recommend the TTL5 and TTL1...............absolutely!

Good question Tel and I am pleased with the answer Derek.

Been toying with how to get all the functionality of CLS with a radio based trigger system and was under the impression that it could not be done yet.

However, I managed to find the Strobist group again and then onto the Pocket Wizard web site. Seems like exactly what I would like to do and they do point out exactly what you say Derek about the order to turn them on.

So where is the best priced place in the UK to buy them? Or is it worth waiting for Focus I wonder?

Best regards

Chris

There are only two suppliers I use regularly

Warehouse express
and
Calumet

Great customer service from both

Just bought this same setup (1x MiniTT 3x TT5 1x AC3) for my D4 when it comes. I was aware of the turn on 'top-down' caveat, but didn't know about the battery life thing. Is that a big issue at all?, it's just I wasn't planning on charging fresh AA's after every outing.

Depends how much you shoot really. Fresh batteries are always a good idea, and a great habit to get in to, however the pocket wizards are quite low drain (unless you forget to turn them off between shooting sessions!)
