Plumber's charges

Don’t get your pants pulled down Dave, cost of a decent boiler like a Worcester 28i is around £1200 and if it’s just a straight swap then it’s typically a days work so £400.
First of all I chose a Worcester Bosh registered fitter and wish to benefit from the Worcester Bosh ten year warranty. Not quite a simple as a straight swap. The Gas pipe had to be changed to a larger size, my current pump is in the airing cupboard miles from the boiler so a cable had to be fitted to allow the boiler to also control the pump. The boiler I chose cost £1800 (on ebay) not £1200. Also They had to fit 12 thermostatic valves on the radiators. There were also some snags with fitting the condensation output for which they found a good solution. It actually took 3 of them a whole day plus two of them to complete the job after 3 hours on the second day. There has to be some disruption (floor boards up) but they were tidy and minimised this. In all they were very considerate but the owner of the company, who was present throughout, is well known to my wife as she is Chairperson of the residents Association and he lived close by. He knows that a good recommendation from us will bring him more work. It is already Gas safe Registered and registered with Worcester Bosch but no sign of the bill yet so I guess he does not need the money for Xmas.
