Hi Folks

I got a little one arriving soon and like a lovely compact camera that takes very good pictures any also videoing if possible that is also very good too I believe they limit on how long you can film?? even if you have a big memory card in it? Possibly a HD compact Camera?

Budget is £300 but can stretch to £400

Hi there,

I have a Panasonic LX3 as a backup to my D300s. I have to admit its pretty good. The image quality is very good, shooting in RAW also helps. The HD movie mode is pretty useful, shooting in 720p. Only downside is the zoom is very limited (2.4x only from memory) and it cannot be used whilst shooting video.

All in all, I would recommend it and you can pick one up for about £315.

+1 - seems like a good option for the budget. I have a fuji f60 - less than £100 and good enough for the rare occasions when I don't use my DSLR.

Not normally something I shout about - but this is a little cracker...

Canon s90

I bought one on the back of THIS REVIEW

little belter- I am so pleased with it- Its lightweight, the processer is fast.. low light piccies are good.

I ordered a Canon S90 today because it really fits my needs for a P&S. From my research i found it just beat the Panasonic LX3 and only on low light capabilities. Either of these cameras would be great in my opinion.

G11 for me.

For those times when I don't want photography to be the reason I am out somewhere but still want some decent photos and all the control of manual mode.

pan LX3 for me got one last year a great little camera. No zoom to talk of but i got it for the wide end, also i think it looks very retro with some nice add on's.

another happy LX3 owner here

i too bought for the wide angle & have never found the zoom to be a problem :)

Panasonic TZ7 or the replacement, TZ10. I have a TZ7 and can highly reccommend it. The TZ10 adds more manual control and GPS.
