The proposed changes to copyright law mean that any non-commercial body would be able to put your work on their website for no fee.

Please sign this petition to try and persuade the Prime Minister to abandon the plans to amend copyright protection for photography.

If you sign, please comment here so we can gauge support

Thanks :D

does it? have you got a link describing the changes, i havent looked into it but remember breifly reading something, but i thought it prohibited redistribution, but maybe that wasnt explicit.

signed, but the government never listen to any of these petitions!

correct me if i'm wrong but its one of a long list of Labour Government proposals in the Queen's speech and should they not get another term the proposal wont even get close to seeing the light of day.
So, just dont vote Labour.

I've signed it too.

Pete

I signed this about ten days ago...You ARE eligible to sign if you are an ex-pat.

I'll sign it, but am firm in the belief that these No.10 polls are never intended to achieve anything apart from, creating the belief that you are doing something, and that the government is listening.

Done. Bar Stewards.

Im convinced these numties at no.10 deliberatly do things just to wind us up and make us fill in a little box of appeal that happens to include our names, address, post code, email etc etc

From their FAQ:
What will happen to my petition once it is finished?

Once your petition has closed, usually provided there are 500 signatures or more, it will be passed to officials who work for the Prime Minister in Downing Street, or sent to the relevant Government department for a response.

Every person who signs such a petition will receive an email detailing the Government's response to the issues raised.

So we should get a reply :)

Which is often not even worth printing out to wipe your backside with. I particularly recall the reply Gordon Brown sent out in response to a petition for him to resign before he did any more damage to the country. It didn't even mention the call to resign...

However, for the sake of keeping some whitehall mandarins busy, I too have signed... Fat lot of good it will do...
