I am going to a 'surprise party' on Saturday and am wondering which camera to take...i have a canon G9 and 400D....ALSO should i chicken out and put it to auto or risk fiddling about with settings?...(is it coming over how confident a photographer i am)!...........your expert help would be both very welcome and appreciated........jackie
 
I'd probably use the G9 and let it do it's own thing. When you get more confident take the 400D and mess about as much as you like :)

:agree: with the above, use the G9. Much more discreet. The 400D isn't really a "quick pics at a party" camera imo :)

I think once your confident enough any camera is a quick pics at a party camera. If I know im drinking il take the D40X, if not i'll take the D300. Once you feel more confident with your camera you will be happier about using it in more places. If you "chicken out" of using it then you may never be prepared to use it in such circumstances.
 
by 'chicken out' i really meant using auto.............but thank you everyone for your opinion....i think i shall use the G9 on auto...problem solved..........thanks............jackie
 
I had this choice last week.

I took my Samsung NV.

Pics not as good as if I'd had my DSLR, but still got some nice shots without spoiling the party atmosphere.

Also I chose to take all the shots without flash.
