Did a photoshoot with the children, and (of course) the only shot that they are both smiling and paying attention, the bloomin' flash did not fire!

SO anyway, I am trying to save it in Lightroom and Photoshop. (Obviously it is never going to be anywhere near as good as it should be with proper lighting)

What do you think of the efforts below? Any tips?

Really nice photos Anna, a real shame that the flash did not fire. I think number 2 looks the best. the only other thing that might be worth trying ( and I have no idea how to do this in photoshop ) is to really push the highlights and go for that very classig high key effect. Not sure it will work.

Im sure one of the wizards here can tell you how to do it.

Thank you. Yes, so annoying. My fault for not charging the batteries first!

They're all ok, and No2 has the edge I think. But that shadowy mark thing on the boy's right cheek [I assume it's a boy!] is a bit of an odd distraction.

No. 2 looks quite good.
You might like to try View NX2 - free download from Nikon if you have not already got it :)
Play with Exposure Compensation if you shot NEF and also Brightness, Shadow Protection & D-Lighting HS for both NEF & JPG.
