Yes
When I put it in a camera - tested in 5D and 1D the indicator lamp lights up forever.

When I switch the camera on it lights up forever again and when I try to take a pic it says "folder number full"

Does same in both cameras but all other cards work fine in both cameras:thinking::thinking::thinking:

Thanks for looking and hope someone can help:thumbs:

No idea Anton, I assume you have formatted the cards in both cameras

got a card reader?

Format it on a computer if you have. You can also use the usual disc tools on it to check for errors.

ALWAYS format in the camera!

ALWAYS format in the camera!

sometimes a format on a PC can make the camera re-recognise the card and you can the format it in the camera - i've done this before and never had a problem.

ALWAYS format in the camera!

Why?

Not arguing - would just like to know if there is a good reason.

Thanks for the responses all!

Will keep you informed:)

Strangest thing here now...

In the card reader after in camera format it says 0 bytes used.

In the camera (5D) it says the card is filled to the last byte and when I O.K. the format command it simply tells "Cannot format"

In my mind I have lost this card so I suppose I cannot lose anything bt formatting it on the pc:shrug:

Is it a sandisk Anton? I had grief with one awhile back
this thread may be of some assistance pointing you in the right direction at least

Nope, sorry;) I think I have finally lost a card:bonk:

Formatted in the camera, then on pc and then in camera again and no signs of life:shrug:

Last test was in 20D and after a seemingly successful format it flashed "Err 99" for the first time in my 3 odd year history with 4 Canon bodies:lol:

"Err 99" soon changed to "Cf Err" and then I decided to bin it.

One x Sandisk Ultra II 1Gb CF moved on to card heaven;)

Will see on Monday if the local dealer will honour some form of warranty - Lifetime on Sandisk innit?

Can't complain really - bought my cards over a few months from late 2005 to early 2006 and, apart from a mechanical failure on an el cheapo card reader a few months back, I have really had nothing but flawless service from them

10 year warrenty I now beileve there are some UK contact details, in the post link I refered to,
and a few trials and tribulations on getting a replacement

you should be able to get the links you need from there
in fact here's the sandisc home page with contact details, not sure about SA though

Will walk in and explain to them that they have just swopped out this card or I'm taking ALL my future business to the big town where those nice peeps understand long-term goodwill.

So far they have understood it my way every time:rules:
