My son has an xBox 360 which is a pile of crap, it's been back four times in a year so we are thinking of getting him a PS3 for Chrimbo. Are they more reliable than the xBox and where is the best place to buy (i.e. the cheapest :D)?
 
I have both and I've had no problem with either.
The Xbox 360 red ring of death seems to be well documented making the PS3 appear more reliable.
Saying that, my mate's wife has a PS3 and for some reason it has stopped reading discs :shrug:

BTW, looking at your avater, I was wondering if everyone from Herts looks like this?
You see, my other half is from Hertfordshire (Stanstead Abbots nr Ware) and I can see the resemblence :lol::lol::lol:
 
Thanks Mike, he keeps getting the RROD and I have just realised it's been back seven times.

On a related note, will he be able to use his PS2 controllers with a PS3?



Of course we are all this good looking in Hertfordshire :D. I'm just the other side of Ware in Puckeridge and know Stanstead Abbots quite well, I don't wish to cast any aspersions on the sexual habits of the good folk from Stanstead Abbots but I have heard that it is the only town twinned with itself :lol:.
 
And Mike (mstphoto) is from Aberdeen so I'll probably have competition in the "Most Handsome Sweaty" category.

PS2 controllers dont work with the PS3, my mate has both PS2 and PS3... and im there enough to go grab whatever I like....

Reason why they dont work is the PS2 ones have the massive port to put into the PS2 whereas the PS3 doesnt have that massive port to put anything older in.

i had the original PS3 , the youngun has that now and i bought a slim for me downstairs , i reckon they are unbeatable for the money , bare in mind , PS3 = costs nothing to play online , POXBOX = £40 / year and the cost of the wireless dongle :bonk:

my brother has had 2 ps3 now they have a fault on them it was on wach dog or something similar and playstation wont accept it is a fault

i have had 3 seperate x box 360 only due to me selling them lol
never had a problem microsoft give a 3 yr guarantee so that will do me and online is 10 times better
 
My 360 went back twice. Last time they sent me a brand spanking new one, I was only without it for 4 days!

Hacker - did they keep repairing the old one? If so, there lies the problem I would think (never heard of one going back 7 times!!).

I believe the larger Tescos had PS3s for only a snip over £200?

EDIT - just checked, £250.
 
If you can find a low use one the original 60GB PS3 is the only version that plays PS2 games, all the others were cut down from the original spec and exclude that feature

I've had my 60gb one since launch without a problem , wait what's that smoking under the TV :D
 
I have the original that went tits up after 14 months :(. Called Sony and was offered a reconditioned replacement FOC, still going strong but I'm only a part-time gamer :clap:. The newer ones are much smaller and are also meant to be 40% cheaper to run.

Stanstead Abbotts is awesome! Others (with webbed feet) from the Rural Herts cast aspertions to keep the ladyfolk around them!

And I swapped 6 months ago from 360 to PS3 and have never looked back - more reliable imo, quieter and better accessories.
 
I got ours from GAME, they have different bundles to choose from..

I LOVES THE PS3....
 
I would pick the ps 3 any day.
Had the origional the psa2 and now the three, and it saved me a fortune on a blue ray player to boot.

Looks better too sat under my black tv on a a black glass tv stand
 
you could always wait for the ps4 or xbox 720..

I would pick a Wii by the way
 
ps3 FTW!!!!! i had my replaced yesterday as mine died unfortunatly with the YLOD (Yellow Light Of Death) basically a non fixure fault. PC world replaced my old 60GB model with a new slim 250GB which is slightly better than its predecessor.

BTW just asking are we allowed Playstation Portable ID in our signatures??

If not i apologise and when notified i will take it out
