Nah, it's just luck. You get a random number of balls to hit before there's one that comes flying down so fast you have no chance. If the fast ball comes early, you get a low score; if it comes late you get a high score.
 
Another way to play this is to go for a high strike rate. The other day I scored a 10-ball 50 - 2666666636 - but without video evidence I don't necessarily expect anyone to believe that. A 9-ball 50 is of course possible but very difficult. Another target is to aim for 100 in less than 34 balls (the first class record held by David Hookes), 31 balls (ODI record held by AB de Villiers) or 30 balls (T20 record held by Chris Gayle) but that's quite difficult too; my suspicion is that the killer unplayable ball tends at come at you earlier if you've been hitting lots of sixes..
 
Scoring on the off side is a challenge, but letting the ball come on to you before playing the shot was the way to go for the sixes, I could not work out the best timing for the one that bounces twice before it reached me

Here you go Keith ... I was expecting a drinks interval at 500 :D,

I think boredom got me out in the finish as I had started trying to place the shots to keep myself entertained
