Wahay full go ahead for the Greek Odyssey this year which will involve flying in to Athens on July 28th and back on August the 30th, give or take.

Sitting down this weekend with the wife to work out where we will be going in the month, islands hops, ferrys and travelling light.

Time to sort out my camera gear in plenty of advance. :-)

Basics

Nikon FE2 with 35mm F2.5 lens
various filters incl IR and Polarisor

loads of fillum !

Greece was my first holiday abroad back in the 70's, I took my Zenith E which I only found out later had a dragging shutter. I have loads of shots with a variety exposures with vertical banding depending on how rubbish the shutter was on that shot. Your month long trip sounds fantastic what a great way of spending a few weeks, it will be damn hot though, I'd stick to the islands.

My first trip abroad in 1953 was cycling in Northern France with a mickey mouse camera.......anyone want to see my crappy shots :D

We need to look at ferry routes this weekend to see what islands we will be visiting, two years ago we did santorini, naxos and paros.
more time this one but plan on getting over to crete for sure.

Woo Hoo Just checking flights and cheap cheap..!

looking at £360 return each :-)

We spend a month each year on Crete (in 2 fortnight long chunks) and particularly like the Chania area. Loads to shoot in the city itself, with the Old Harbour being mainly Venetian as well as the harbour wall. LOADS of places to eat and drink around the harbour, although it's not the cheapest area (but worth it for the people watching, especially on Saturday evenings.) IIRC, ferries go from Athens/Piraeus to Souda which is a few KM East of Chania, with good, reasonably priced, regular busses (buy tickets from kiosks, cheaper than on the busses themselves.) Keep your eyes open for days with decent Euro rates - they seem to be up and down like an 'ore's drawers at the moment! Cash is MUCH preferred over cards and there may be limits on daily withdrawals from ATMs.
