Hi, am after some recommendations on places to visit on the pembrokeshire coastal path. I am going to pack a tent, food, water and a camera and just start walking to see where it leads. ( I will be taking map, compass, phone etc). I wondered if anyone here had visited this part of Wales and knew of some good locations? Many thanks Rob:thumbs:

The long section between Newport and St Davids is probably the most dramatic.

To be honest, just about all that section is spectacular, but St Davids Head/Carn Llidi and Strumble Head/Garn Fawr/Penbwchdy perhaps stand out. If you're stopping in YHA's the one at Pwll Deri (Strumble Head) has an amazing view.

Marloes Peninsula - fantastic!

The Castlemartin section is spectacular as well, but largely closed to the public by the army. "Range West" is not accessible except to organised groups. "Range East" is open normally between 5 pm and 9 am (ie not during working hours), and at weekends and bank holiday mondays.

Happy Walking!

I agree that if you are walking the coast path, the North of the county around St Davids would be the most interesting place to go.

If you intend to visit South Pembrokeshire, Broadhaven Beach (near St Govans Chapel), Barafundle Bay, Freshwaterwest Beach and Tenby are worth a visit.

You can see some of my photos taken around the South of the county here:

Thank you Jerry12953 and Byker28i, some great ideas there. Will head towards Newport/St Davids section and have a look around. Rob

Thank you Buzz- sorry I didn't thank you yesterday-didn't see your post. Your gallery has some great shots-thanks for the advice about St Davids. Rob

You won't get a better break down than that. North is quieter and in my own personal opinion preferable to the South, probably as my folks live in Ceibwyr Bay.
Let us know where you end up. Strumble, Dinas Head and of course inland try the Prescellis

No help to you at all, but i used to go to Pembroke every summer for 6 weeks, love it there.

Well thanks to everyone for their help. Have got my OS maps and have decided on starting at St Davids and walking North for about 2-3 days-I want to get to Strumble Head for the lighthouse, but just walking by the coast will be a pleasure. Rob
