Just wondered if anyone had any ideas of places to photograph in and around Derbyshire?

This really depends on what pictures you like to make. There is everything from landscapes to people to everything. Button is superb with old buildings - Palace Hotel, The Crescent etc. also has Cave system.

When are you thinking of going? Haven't been for years but used to live around Harpur Hill in 60's

We live in Derbyshire! What do you like to photograph? And where are you going ...? I think Derbyshire can offer you landscapes, history, wildlife, architecture, industrial heritage, sporting venues and much more. It's a big county ....

I think Chas meant Buxton :) can be nice if the weather is good, there's also Chatsworth, Hardwick Hall if that's your thing, or Padley Gorge and Ladybower. Plenty of choice really, dive on Google and Flickr and search the areas

I live in Derbyshire so I was looking for something a little different then the usual places. But thanks for all your suggestions

I moved from Ripley, Derbyshire to York a couple of years ago and still miss it.

The National Tramway Museam at Crich is worth a visit and also Crich Stand which you could do on the same day. Heage Windmill is also in the immediate vicinity and can make for some stunning images at sundown.

You could shoot most things in Derbyshire, the city has some very old and fantastic buildings - many in the Friargate area were used for holding/executing those on the wrong side of the law. In the same area there is the new art studios that are clad in copper. As for people watching... The people in derby can be 'interesting'... ;). If you're into trains then British rail were based here and there are regularly steam engines travelling through the station (would need to check).

If you head out north west on the A52 to Ashbourne then you will find yourself in the Derbyshire dales/white peak area of the peak district. Just west of Ashbourne (edge of derbyshire) is the derbyshire stepping stones. Anywhere north of that is all prime landscape/old postage stamp type village photography.

Forgot to add, over east Derbyshire way there is Matlock/cromford that was the birth place of the UK cotton trade and a large part of the industrial revolution as well as caverns. Lots to do and see all over the place!

Let's be honest. It will be hard to not find something to photograph in Derbyshire.
I am on the app on iPad so can't see the apparent error over Buxton - Damn you auto correct.
