I need some E-ttl triggers for some occasional jobs, Would like the pocket wizards but its really the cost. Is anyone family with the pixel kings or can recommend alternatives, they need to be E-TTL has I already have just basic triggers. wwwpixelhk.com
1 x transmitter and 2 x receivers are approx £151 on ebay, free postage + import tax if you get caught out.

Oh forgot to mention< i know the build quality will be better on the pocket wizards, support will be better, back and foward compatibility and I often quote to other people "buy cheap buy twice" but they are not going to be used every day and I look after my gear so why not???

Ive just bought phottix odins...I have not used pocket wizards etc. but I have to say Im very very impressed with the odins so far. theyre well built and I have total control on the fly of the remote flashes both full ttl and manual for all settings on a per group basis.

worth watching the video on their website to see what they can do.

Cheers, look good but still quite pricey at $350 + shipping.

yes theyre pricey, but when I looked at the cost of the PWs and the fact there is no on the fly remote configuration possible etc. and some questionable reports on reliability/interference issues I decided the odins were worth a punt. Im all for efficiency and I have enough to worry about with my photography being a beginner without having to piddle about with the back of each flash changing settings..:)

I've used YNs and Cactus V5s in the past.

I've just got Pixel Kings ETTL. I have to say that I've literally only had a 10 min play with them so far, but I am impressed. I love the fact that I can now control the flash power (in manual mode) from the camera. As far as ETTL goes, they seem great as well and FEL even works.

One other plus point - they use AAs not AAAs, and I always have loads of AAs on me :)
One last point is that they have a stiff physical on / off button :)

Once I've had a proper play, I'll post up some results.

Cheers.

I took the plunge on rocket wizards and love them. New firmware and programming software now allows you to set them up to recognise any canon camera automatically which is the main change. No reliability issues and able to trigger studio lights is a bonus. I know you say they are outside your budgets but if you can wait and save for longer I would suggest you do so.

Intersted in seeing the results and any other thoughts. Getting very interested as my Xmas present. £119.95 looks a very reasonable price.

Cheers.
