Sorry, I was under the impression that he had punched out rather than being thrown out.

Haven't read the whole PDF but it does look like a catalogue of errors, although the only ones that look to have actually caused the crash was pilot error.

I have read that article, and I do not think the ex RAF pilot is speaking in very "expert" terms.

The 71-year-old veteran said: "This is a terrible thing to say, but when you look at a guy who is a British Airways captain, has got long hair and wears a cap like that, you get the feeling that he's a glamour puss rather than a professional pilot.

It is quite obvious that he is quite judgemental about the Hawker Hunter pilot, and prefers to comment on his hair and dress sense.
I went to the Headcorn air show last year, and there was a flypast at reasonably low level by a 73 year old Lancaster. If anything had gone wrong with that aircraft, or had there been a pilot error, then there would have been absolute carnage on the ground, because there are roads all around that airfield and Headcorn and Smarden villages.
Air displays in the modern era, are about as dangerous for spectators as F1 racing in the 60's or 70's. It is very rare that an accident happens, but when it does, it can end in disaster.

And lets not forget that in a jet you are only ever seconds away from disaster, as opposed to a light aircraft.
