No
As per the title really. Are you worried?

I know I am now. Level 5 aint good, I can only think it'll get worse.

Really hoping that it's not based on Cytokine storms, if it is, I reckon we're all screwwwwed. :(

What are your thoughts?

The best way to treat things like this in the past have been to exercise cautionary containment, but that's not happening this time around. Also, I know we'll all blame British Airways if it does get worse! :p:D

It is not uppermost in my mind, I'm inclined to think this will just fizzle out, panic over, end of.

Could be wrong:) but it is certainly not worrying me.

Couldn't care less about it despite the world health organisation and the medias' best efforts.

If level five means that it is being passed from human to human in two or more countries then perhaps the media should be told about the current H.I.V., A.I.D.S, and Chlamydia PANDEMIC.

Turn off the TV, turn off the radio, stop reading the papers and carry on living a normal existance.

I would quite like the pigs opinion on it myself, are the DM carrying quotes? :naughty:

but seriously, I am with Mal, I think it will fizzle out and thats despite one of the confirmed cases being in my borough. You will all be glad to know, that whilst posting here I am wearing a face mask and applying antiseptic cleaning gel to my hands and keyboard on a regular basis ;)

No it doesnt worry me since I've taken these...

lol. Did I mention I am currently showing all the symptoms? :p

I sneezed in Tescos this morning and an angry mob chased me with torches and pitchforks!

That's because you were supposed to wipe the slobber away on your sleeve not the checkout girls' tabbard.

Bobbby Ball came through the airport sneezing he was asked by an official if he had come from mexico he said yes asked if he had swine flu he said no its just a pigging cold!

I've just been into the estate agents. I've cold a cold anyway. I coughed and had a bit of a sniffle. Noticed this guy watching me as I looked on the wall for places to rent. Anyway, over I go to ask if they have anything for the end of June. He jokingly remarks that I could have pig flu. Well, this was too good to miss! I look at him in complete confusion, 'what's that?' I say.

'What's what?' he replies.

'Pig flu' I repeat.

'You mean you haven't heard?'

'Heard about pig flu?'

'Yes'

'Not for the past few years no, why?'

He goes on to explain the whole situation, relaying his worst fears about it. He's obviously quite worried and even has his own mask but didn't want to bring it in because he works on commission! This is when he mentions where it started...

'Mexico??' I say with a little urgency about myself.

'Erm, yes, Mexico'.

'****, no wonder I've not heard about it yet, I only got back from Mexico City this morning!!'

You should've seen his face!!

Playing practical pig flu jokes on unsuspecting estate agents - priceless. :D

I'm really worried all my family and friends are going to die again like they did with bird flu.

Oh, wait......

Don't forget the old rhyme too :

Coughs and sneezes, spread diseases,
but the media creates the panic.

Ok, it's not *that* old.

Ok, maybe a few minutes old considering I just made it up.
Does explain my feelings on the media coverage.

Have we had a roving news reporter and cameraman reporting from a pig farm yet? Or maybe a cattle market? (Because having the animals in the background makes the story much more REAL AND IN YOUR FACE!!! AAAAARGGH!)

I'm still trying to get over the SARS pandemic and then they spring this on me. It's harrassment I tell thee.

In any other age it would have been serious for us ...
How ever we have anti-virals now.

The problem will be in the large parts of the world that can not afford such things.

Didn't we have a similar level of widespread panic over Bird Flu not so long ago? Whatever happened to that?

Yes, and a few others.

Pandemic - you need to go back to basics to understand what is happening.

PANDEMIC

What we are dealing with here is a DEMonstration PANIC.

There are some among us who believe we are about to suffer the wrath of God because we are so wicked. That theory is supported by the fact that "swine flu" is an anagram of "we sinful".

What I am watching for is Brown saying everything is under control. Then we'll know we are in trouble.

he said it yesterday :help:

Nope, but for some reason last nights news had a report shot at the graves of the first two people to die from it in Mexico

Is it just me, or do the media seem to want us living in a permanent state of fear these days? We've had Al-Queda, bird flu, swine flu, GM crops and a whole heap of other doses of "impending doom".
The cynic in me is wondering which embarrasing story/policy/escapade the government are going to try and bury while this is holding peoples attention?

I agree!! I've always been a worrier and used to worry moreso about things like this a couple of years ago, together with everything else in life and THAT in itself made me soo ill. I am concerned, but cannot allow myself to worry over it, what will be, will be. Hopefully this will just pass, just like the bird flu did.

Case reported in Newcastle today and I was there yesterday  :runaway:

I'm doomed..........................

:

one of the people i work with has just come back from a trip to mexico (and then onto the rally in argentina) are we worried? not really, he probably caught worse diseases from his hooker tour of the americas...!

its more hype than anything else designed to whip up panic etc.

i thought it hilarious that one of the people i work with blames all of this (and infact anything else he can) on the black/asian population of the planet... i cant quite figure that one out either!

Not in the slightest bit worried, no matter how much the media is trying to convince me that I'm going to die.

I got over BirdFlu quick enough. Within a few days I'd remembered how to parallel park, stopped talking crap and stopped obsessing about shoes: Bird flu was out of my system.

I think I have swine flu - I've broke out in rashers.

:coat:

Oh I wouldn't wanna be you right now!

I'm not scared :D I made that joke during the bird flu 'crisis' and survived :D

The current joke going round work makes me chuckle.

Me: Dave, I think your mum might have swine flu
Dave: Why's that?
Me: You should have heard her squealing like a little piggy :naughty: heh heh
