No
I made some bramble and apple crumble today and it was lovely. I think I prefer pies but I was outvoted.

So, crumble or pies?

And what with it? Custard or Carnation?

Pies and Custard for me :D

Pies and custard for me ,when we've got it I will sometimes have cream but that restricted to Apple pie !

Crumble and custard in the winter, pie and ice cream in the summer for me....

I didn't think of icecream but even if I had "all" we have is Cookies and Cream and Raspberry Pavlova and I'd have preferred Vanilla to have with crumble or a pie.

So for those who'd choose icecream, what flavour?

PS.
I've just finished the Cookies and Cream :D

All of the above with clotted cream and ice cream or custard will do fine, will PM you my address!;):p:D

All year round :D

Crumble 1st but pie will do....

As for the accompaniment, vanilla ice cream every time but if not available, cream or evaporated milk. But never custard :(

Oh, fillings....apple, apple & pear, apple & strawberry, pear & ginger, rhubarb, rhubarb & ginger.

Talking of crumble, I mean crumble as in old school not the excuse for crumble with oats and tooth breaking "whatever" is in modern version!!!

Blackberry and apple crumble with custard in the Winter and vanilla ice cream in the Summer. I only eat savoury pies.

Stewed fruit (no topping) with ice cream AND custard! Usually end up with a granola topping on the fruit though.

Crumble and proper grandma's crumble made with flour, butter and sugar and not that new-fangled stuff some try to pass off as crumble every time and always with cream/clotted cream and ice cream and the ice cream has to be vanilla.

I didn't know people put other stuff in it. Mine is just flour and butter.

Best pud ever is apple and blackberry crumble with cold ambrosia custard

We normally shop at ASDA and in the past when they've been out of the Ambrosia I've bought the ASDA version and it's just.... not as good.

That's an interesting combination.

I don't add sugar to the crumble as it's already added to the brambles.

What a question, how on earth do you expect a qualified answer without a taste test! Fortunately I am volunteering to be a guinea pig for this test. I am an expert pie eater and pretty nifty with shifting a crumble too.
If you would care to send me full size sample of each I will give them a full unbiased test.

PS. I can also give a good assessment of steak pies too!

Oi, get to the back of the queue, I have already volunteered!;)

I think the test should require at least another person, so I shall take one for the team:)

I've never had Carnation on anything so I suppose I should try it but on the other hand why should I? To me the answer is obvious, Custard :D

In Autumn I often blitz up some cobnuts with the mix, and it works well

All this talk of dessert reminds that, at one time, I learned that a customer of mine was a member of "The Pudding Club".

IIRC he said that at their meetings they had 7 or more puddings to taste.

I'm in the Pie camp, but my wife prefers crumble, so guess what we always have crumble !
but I don't like custard , reminds me of lumpy school custard, with a skin so think so could play it like a drum. so ice cream or double cream for me.

I pick and eat blackberries for breakfast most morning on my early walk, not keen on them cooked
For me you can't beat rhubarb crumble :)

We never eat things straight off the bush. I soak brambles in salt water for hours and then rinse them several times as there are usually living things in there somewhere. There are usually small spiders and the like and of course worms/maggots or whatever they are. The numbers can vary and one year when the brambles were early we got a lot of worms, it's more usual just to find a few.

Been eating them straight off the plant for years, not come to any harm yet,
I make sure they are high up so local dogs can't water them and away from traffic pollution
