Piers Morgan tries to interview Alex Jones

I'm sure that Alex Jones guy frequents the 'Out of Focus' forum on here!

As much as I HATE Piers Morgan (and love Jeremy Clarkson for punching him!), I actually agree with him on the topic of guns.

Wouldn't mind him being shot with one though! :p

Please tell me there's a video I can watch of that!

I hope that you're kidding.

Not at all. I have traveled a lot, including the USA. A road trip from Canada to Florida, including New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky; business trips to Chicago, and holidays in Nevada, California and Hawaii. In general I have found Americans very ignorant and unaware of the world outside their borders and how they are perceived internationally.
My last trip ended in Chicago 3 years ago. I remember trying to find out what was happening in the world. Do you think I could find an international news channel on the TV? Domestic CNN in nothing like CNN International like we all know and love.
It's a fascinating country to visit, but the population....

terrible generalisation here.

I've worked and met with hundreds of americans, all are different.

There are many americans who do not want guns in their country who do not think like the guy on the video

Where did you meet them? In the US or over here? Big difference.

I've travelled a lot in the US, and I've lived there. Yours is a horrible generalisation and makes you sound like a bit of a bigot tbh. :shake:

I don't have huge experience of the USA - only been on holiday there. But I found Americans to be very varied in their outlook and manner.

In a country as big and populous as the US they are bound to have a less international outlook. There are many people in this country who have almost NO knowledge of the outside world. My other half is a fine and wonderful woman, but she has very little interest or knowledge of international affairs.

We all make our own opinions based on our own experiences Patrick. As I said I've been to the States a number of times, and this is the impression I have come back with.

theres a difference between saying people you met were like this and that all americans are

Do excuse me for having an opinion that differs from your Ruth. And no need for the name calling eh.

Yep, spent a lot of holidays in the States and must agree with you Ruth.

I honestly don't know why he replies to any post I make. He knows he's on my ignore list.

Im typically zoomed in on my phone and rarely looking at who's posted why just replying to the posts.

I'm also not so much replying just to you but to the conversation

So some now means all? Jeez Joe, even by your standards that's stretching it for the sake of an argument! :shake:

Some? Would the word typical relate to some? Or all/most normally?

To be typical it has to be the majority doesn't it?

huh, see I used it above meaning "most of the time"

I don't see anywhere where he said all Americans are

To clarify, I do not have a high opinion of them in GENERAL based on what I have experienced from MY travels. I do not claim that all Americans are like Alex Jones. That would be unrealistic wouldn't it. However, I do believe that in country whose politics consists of 2 right wing parties, he is representative of a large portion of the population.
It's a shame that sharing an opinion now leads to personal insults (no I am not a bigot), but such is life.

So it's gone from all to now the majority. Geez give the guy a break.

I'm new here and what a witch hunt to witness straight away, I hope I don't say something people disagree with.

I said your comment made you sound like a bigot. I did not call you a bigot. Grammatically, historically and legally there is a very big difference :)

Welcome to tp.

It's all good to disagree. Nobody takes things personally, it's a very friendly place here and there are debates and strong opinions. But largely it's a great resource and community.

Welcome to TP. This happens a lot in the Out of Focus section
The rest of the site is much calmer and a great place to be :)

Welcome to tp? Strange to come to this section to post your first post on a photography forum. If I was a suspicious person I would be thinking troll.

TBH OOF was the first place I posted....well, after the welcome section I think

I had more welcomes here than my welcome thread, thanks ha. It does look a great site tbh.
