what's the best size to take your picture in?? i have always taken my pictures in large (4928x3264, 16.1m), but i find myself always having to compress or resize my photos to upload them to curtain websites, blogs etc. Is it better to keep taking them in this size and just resize them later on the computer or just take smaller sized images???

thanks

If in any doubt, I'd leave it full size in the camera and worry about it later. If you knew 100% that your image was only going to be used in low res format then maybe crank the quality down. A lot of sports photographers do this as it reduces the time from capture to publication and can also improve burst rates.

Take it full size.. adjust copies for purpose afterwards.

Thanks guys will keep it the same

agree , portable hard drives are cheap nowadays, the problem is keeping track of what you have taken:lol:

Tell me about it mine are filed year mounth day edited, original and resized

It's a pain, but I always keep hi-res originals if you can. You never know when you might need them again at a better quality. If your images are ever to be printed professionally, you need them at print size and 300dpi.

I'm a graphic designer and I can honestly say that there have been literally hundreds of times when a higher re image was needed, but the original had been lost forever.

I have a few portable 1TB hard drives which only cost about £50 each these days. Hope that helps.

The good thing about shooting raw is that you don't need to worry about pixel dimensions at the time of capture as this can be specified at a later time.
