Picture opens as a smart object.

Hi,

Long time viewer first time poster. I have done a lot of searching both here and around the WWN but I have not found an answer.

I have changed from CS3 to CS5. When I have a picture open is CS5 and I drag another one in is opens as a smart object. I don’t want this but I can’t find a setting to stop it. It dose not mater if it is RAW coming from ACR of just a jpeg it still opens as a smart object. If it is from ACR I have clicked in to make sure the “open in Photoshop as smart object” is not checked.

I hope I am explaining myself correctly and someone can help

Try holding the shift key from ACR which should open as a normal image.

Shorted. I just needed to drag it into another part of PS not over the first picture.

If you go to edit/preferences/general theres a tick box that says place or drag raster oobjects as smart objects, untick that.
