picture count

hi all just got me a canon 300d and would like to know how do i find out how many shots it has taken.

you can't.

I think Canon can but end users can't.

as long as its set to continuous file numbering then the file number will give you an idea.

eg img_7345 is the 7345th pic taken.

Only the 1d series in canon can show how many pics taken.. I certtainly wouldnt rely on the continuos shooting filename.. There is no way of knowing the start count or even when it was changed from new to continuous... erk sorry toothie..

mine says something like dcsf2345...
but thats no help cos ive taken over 10,000 with this cam so its been round the clock once

both good points mine which i got as a new camera has been on continuous since i got it, so it should give me a rough idea. But yeah i know its not fully accurate.

CanCount is the most-used application, but it's not free. Rob Galbraith says that Opanda IExif, which is free, can also do it, but I don't know whether he's right.

You can download Exif Reader - it free. Only works with Canon 1 Series bodies though

Once you've installed it, take a shot in jpeg format. Open the shot in Exif Reader straight from the the CF card.

Look for the following line of info...
