Chickens going mad at the moment

Pickled eggs, pint of light and bitter and packet of cheese and onion crisps - one of your 5 a day:thumbs:

beautiful things pickled eggs, make you trump well though.

I've often wondered what they taste like but have never tried them.

I'm not a picky eater either, the only food I know I don't like is liquorice.

Will have to make an effort to buy one next time I'm in a chippy!

mmm yep, love pickled eggs, although been a while since I bought any, might have to rectify that soon :)

I like mine liberally sprinkled with black pepper, and washed down with a tasty pint.

Blimey, homemade bread, eggs, apple crumble, chocolate cake, lemon cake and clotted cream shortbread you need to learn to cook  and now after my pickled eggs

I don't like them :( I do like cake though :)

You sound like a domestic goddess Nicky! My cake will be from M&S

I've never had pickled eggs but I remember my mum used to preserve them in waterglass in a huge crock - it must have held several hundred

I love them Nicki  Perhaps you might be able to answer me something  I have tried a couple of times to do pickled eggs from the ones my girls lay. However I have tried all the methods of boiling them at different times, plunging them in ice water the lot. But for some reason the membrane sticks like you know what to the egg when trying to peel them. Yes I know about tapping the egg on a surface and rolling it along gently to crack the shell etc ;) I am thinking that perhaps I should leave the eggs for a few more days before boiling them as they might be too fresh

Defo too fresh  leave them a couple of days before boiling, I boil mine for ten minutes then put them in cold water till cold them peel.

and how long do you leave them?

What do use for pickling. I live on my own and always end up bunging some in the bin :(

Pickling vinegar, get mine from Waitrose only place round here that does it.

and how long do you leave them?

As long as you want but find 2 weeks minimum and month ideally so do some each week so have a rotation.

Try pickling them with a couple of chillis thrown in! Fantastic but explosive :)
Dont go socialising the next day. :)

Got some of those on the go at the mo
