Got my GGS lcd screen cover today. Fits easily, can be pulled up again if you just rest it on. Looks like there is no screen cover at all. Wonderful and cheap too.

i will try tomorrow but you cant see it cos apart from GGS at the bottom it looks like there is nothing there. just glass

you can get it from amazon. i got from ebay but it took a week or two to arrive. amazon will be quicker Im sure.

My GF1 came today but because I have done it "arseaboutface":D I have no memory card, I did go through the motions on a retailer's site yesterday entering my cc details but my order did not register according to my end so waiting for a reply confirming it did not go through. I may be a getting micro card / adaptor tonight but if that does not materialise a kind member on this thread who is a "Gadget Girl";) has sent me the loan of a card for the following week until I get sorted with a decent one.

Thats the fella. I'll post some details on it when it arrives.

Swordjo, I assume by the filter size, you will be getting the 20mm lens with it? I would only be fitting a very good filter on that lens, why compromise what is essentially a high quality lens with a filter of unknown pedigree?
Allan

Was your stick on GGS screen protector from Amazon any good? It seems to work out a lot cheaper than the one on ebay, and quicker delivery?

Well we can't have you off on hols with no card now, can we!! :D

I've got a card but no holiday. Anyone care to help out? :D

I posted a link to the Amazon one and it was confirmed as the one bought from there.
Couple of pages back.

I've got a G10 at the moment but will be ordering a GF1 with the 20mm next week after my overtime is in the bank:thumbs: I wonder if the wife will notice a 8mm fisheye in the kit bag:shrug:

Opened the back door quietly (so I thought ) to get pic of Squirrell and he was off, only had 20mm lens on so click and this was the result after some cropping...

Not quite sure what you're asking Sid?

The questions relates to the number of shutter actuations the GF1 is rated for. Most DSLR's have a life cycle that is stated by manufacturer - for example the 7D is rated for 150,000 actuations.

Sadly I cannot find anything about the GF1 shutter.

Thanks for the info Richard - something new to learn every day.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought shutter life was a function of the mirror flip action. Surely the GF1 has an electonic shutter and should not have a limited shutter life as such?

The GF1 does not have a mechanical shutter to go wrong. However, the constant requirement to have the sensor "on" apparently makes it much more likely to suffer hot pixels or burnout over a period of time.

When I got my GF1, I wondered about the shutter sound it made. Sure enough, if you fire off a relatively slow exposure without a lens mounted you'll see the shutter in all its glory.

Here's the reasoning behind it.

That is an absolute cracker of a shot, Dave.

I love using f1.7 on the 20mm. Im going to have an experiment with the scene mode of Peripheral Defocus! See what that looks like with various aperture values compared to good old f1.7 :)

Never used a scene mode in my life!! :D But if it you haven't tried it, don't knock it! ;) :D:D

Um, yes it does.

It's a focal plane shutter that is dropped into place just moments before the exposure is taken.

Hi all.

Some of you know that i have had a GF1 (or 2) before and now I'm back with my 3rd!!!

"What the hell are you up to Andy" I hear you cry.....well....

I have no job at the moment and things are a bit drastic so I have had to sell my DSLR gear to pay some bills etc but managed to hang on to enough for a 'posh compact'-posher than my S90!!:D

So I now have a red (the only one in stock with 20mm but I love it!) GF1 with 20mm f1.7 and the EVF which i find quite good! I got a superb deal at Park Cameras who are brilliant (Great service and wonderful shop!!) I forgot how great the GF1 is and am happy that I'm back.

The few Canon lenses I have left to sell look huge compared to the GF1 stuff and they now feel SO heavy after handling the GF1.

Here is a poor pic of my new girl in my life, I think i'll call her Lulu :D The red colour looks much better in real life than the image.

Andy sorry to hear about the job situation, I've had a scare recently myself and I'm changing kit as a result. Was tempted to go back to the GF1 but couldn't push the button ;)

It never fails to surprise me when I see stunning images from the GF1. However I have to say the Pen2 has the styling I like, the old 35mm film camera look with the fun of digital.

I was toying with the E-P2 but it was far more expensive. The IQ from both are very similar but there were things on the GF1 that i preferred even if it is a bit of a brick! :D

I know what you mean, when I was toying with the idea of going back to micro 4/3 I couldn't decide. No doubt Panasonic have the edge with lenses but as you can use them on the Olympus that was mute.

For me the AF was a biggy, but the styling and the EVF on the Pen2 were calling to me.

In the end (I say that like I'm totally convinced) I started to look at other lens options and suddenly it started to look expensive again - even compared to the a 2nd hand full frame body and primes.

It's torrential rain here; my day off; and I needed to find something to do inside, so I tested out my peripheral defocus mode. Problem is it shows I should have done the dusting.
