Hi

Just though it ask this question as im having trouble pinning down information on the subject.

I am considering buying a 7D on import and was wandering, besides the warrenty issues, what (if any) are the physical differences?

will it all be in a different language or have different settings?

Regards

(Nikon user here, but Canon can't be that different, can they?)

They're all made in the same factory at the same time so there won't be any physical differences.

It might come set to a different language, but that will be easy to change. The manual and other documentation may well be in a different language, but you should be able to download one in English.

Battery charger and anything else that plugs into the mains will have a foreign plug. But they tend to be worldwide compatible so should work with an adapter.

Nikon actually use a different serial number format for US-market gear than for the rest of the world, but I gather that's something to do with their etching equipment, so I doubt Canon do this as well.

They should be the same except that the consumer range eg. 400D in UK, are called and labelled XTi in US.
The charger ill also be different but the output voltage will be the same.

Cool, that's reassuring. Might give it a go then given the potential savings.
