Photoshop - scroll bar height

Does anyone know if there's a way of increasing the height of the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the Photoshop interface? At default settings the bar is so thin I keep hitting the icons below it instead (i.e. the icons on Windows taskbar). :bang::bang::bang:
 
I don’t know how to extend the bar, but then I never use it, if you hold the space bar down and click on the image the cursor changes to the hand and you can drag the image to where you want to be.

Thanks for the tip - I didn't know that one.

The hand works fine most of the time but it's a bit slow when sliding images around at high magnifications, e.g. 300% or more (like I am now).
 
Space bar/Drag is how I use it as well. I've never used the scroll bars. I sometimes use navigator... that's useful.

I do use the navigator but find it's too far away when I'm working at the other end of the screen. Space bar/drag seems more useful at this sort of magnification.
