Photoshop question regarding resizing

OK so I have always resized pictures using Edit > Image size, constrain proportions 800px longest side and ok.

So reading the web the other day about re sampling / resizing, and someone posted instructions to use File > Automate > Fit Image to resize, I duly tried it and found no obvious difference to my before method.

Is there any difference between them?

I think i'm going to stick to the new way, for (atm) no other reason than I learned a new way to do it. :shrug:

I suspect it goes through similar steps, one is an automatic version, probably designed for batch resizing.

Lightroom does a similar procedure, but has a couple of options as to dimensions, which is the way I do it.

The only thing I can think of is if you go to your first way you can select Resample image Bicubic Sharper as this is best when making a reduction
